Yesterday we got word that the kids report cards were available on Skyward. We checked them with the kids on the phone, and we were so very pleasantly surprised!!!
Kamdyn struggled for a short bit this year, but she completed the year with all As!!! She did very well in the last 9 weeks! =)
Max did well. He is right where he is supposed to be as far as academics, and he is progressing very well on his Speech IEP.
Diya.....I can't even begin to explain how extremely proud we are of Diya....more that she should be very proud of herself!!! The last half of the year has been very hard for Diya. Since my health has taken a turn for the worst our whole family has been in "survival mode" in a sense. We have not had a lot of extra time or energy to do anything extra. Me being sick has truly taken a HUGE toll on our whole family. A few months ago Diya's teacher emailed us to inform us that Diya had not done/or turned in her homework in over a month nor had she been reading any books. Diya has always been a hesitant reader...so for her to go without reading for a month was detrimental to her education! (Please no judgements as Deep & I already hold ourselves responsible, and we worked through this issue!) It was highly recommended that Diya go to summer school so she could catch up and avoid the summer slide. We made an appt to talk to Diya's teacher & guidance counselor. We explained our family situation to both. We explained that our family is going through a lot right now, and basically we are living in survival mode. We are fighting to keep Mom (me) alive and going. Both Diya's teacher and guidance counselor understood our situation, and both offered lots of advice & offered to step in and help with Diya. The guidance counselor started meeting with Diya so she could talk to her about her feelings with me being so sick and constantly in and out of the hospital. It is important to remember that for the greater part of our kids lives Deep and I have been on our own. We have never had family close by to help out. Deep & I are our childrens' parents and that is how it is. Since I've been sick we've had people in and out of their lives. It is a big change. When we spoke with Diya's teacher she was very worried that with the advancement changes in the reading curriculum that Diya would test below or approaching grade level for reading, and the other grades would not be good either. So with Diya's teacher, guidance counselors, and the little extra effort that Deep, myself, Kamdyn, Janice, Ketryna, and my parents have put in....I am so INCREDIBLY PROUD to share that Diya tested AT grade level for reading, and her math benchmark was 95%!! She finished the year with a BANG! We are soooooooooooo incredibly proud of her, and she should be soooooooooo incredibly proud of herself!!! Diya will be doing a couple of summer reading/writing programs, and hopefully that will keep her on track for 3rd grade!!
So as of last week....we currently have Kamdyn as a 5th grader, Diya as a 3rd grader, Max as a 1st grader, and Kohen as a 2nd year preschooler! Our kids are amazing, and they should all be as proud of themselves as we are proud of them!
Kiddos, Momma & Daddy love you with all of our heart, and we are so very proud to be your parents!! =)
I'm Keli. I am 33 years old. I have been happily married to Deep for 13 years! We have 6 kids: Kamdyn- 10, Diya- 8, Max- 6, Kohen 3, Devas born 9/23/2010, and Baby Kaityn Jenieva-Faith born 4 weeks early on 6/27/12. This blog is about the excitement of our lives...

*life update *
I know it has been a while since I've updated. I think about every day that I need to write in my blog, but usually I have so much depressing stuff going on that I get sad just thinking about it. I will update on everyone....
So here we gooooooooooooooo (in the words of Toy Story)....
I spent 4 days in the hospital due to strep throat. Here's how that week went...Tuesday late night I noticed my throat was itchy and hurt a bit. By 1:30 AM Wed I was running a fever of 101. I took some meds and went back to bed. At 6 I woke up with a 103 fever. Deep made me a Dr. appt for 4 PM. I went to my Dr. appt and he sent me straight to the ER. I got admitted to L&D for 4 days. They had to speculate that my PIC line was infected due to the high fevers. It was a rough hospital stay. Thursday I was in so much pain they did a spinal tap. My head started hurting RIGHT after they did this procedure. Thankfully my lab results from the spinal tap were negative. However the spinal headache was enough to nearly push me over the edge. My strep culture results came in on Friday. I had strep throat. Antibiotics were started and by Saturday I fell well enough to go home. Tuesday I had an OB appt. I gained 3 lbs! My head was hurting so badly that my OB scheduled a 2nd spinal tap to do a blood patch. I went that afternoon for the blood patch. They do a spinal tap and then put your blood in to patch the potential leak of CSF. I had the spinal placed, and then they had to draw 20 ml of blood. They stuck me 3-4 times and got nothing. The Dr. came around to help. They got a vein in my hand and to get enough blood they wrapped their hands around my arm and "pushed" the blood down toward my hand. They got 18 ml of blood. The Dr. put it in my back, and they laid me down quickly. They kept asking if my head felt better. Honestly I couldn't tell...I was in a lot of pain in my hips/shoulders. By the time I stood up I knew my headache was better! THANK GOD!!
My mom came and stayed with us from Thurs-Tues. She came up while I was in the hospital, and stayed until Tuesday. The day after she went home my cousin came up to stay with us for a week, and then she came up and stayed 2 weeks with us. =)
My most recent issue has been the nodules on my legs. I ended up in the ER a few weeks ago for these bumps. The ER thought it was MRSA. They started me on antibiotics at the hospital. I saw my PCP the next day. He had a second opinion of what the nodules were. He did a skin punch biopsy and some bloodwork. He wanted me to see a dermatologist. The dermatologist had a 3rd opinion. I was given a steroid shot at the dermatologist office. It did nothing. I saw my PCP the next week. He gave me a 2nd (stronger) steroid shot, and again nothing! So now I am waiting to see a rheumatologist on April 23. My PCP thinks that I have a rheumatoid or autoimmune issue going on. My bloodwork also indicates I could have a rheumatoid issue. =/
My bloodwork also showed that I am malnourished. Which wasn't a huge surprise because I have been SICK SICK SICK for almost 4 months! So the recommendation was made to start me on TPN. I got my OB approval, nutritionist approval, and home health care pharmacist approval...I thought yay I am getting somewhere. HA the joke is on me! So far the TPN has made me soooooooooooooo sick! I lost even more weight! I was hardly able to get out of bed. It has been rough.
I am 25 weeks pregnant! The baby is getting quite active! A few days ago I felt her hiccuping! <3 Only 3 weeks until my last (VERY LAST EVER!!) trimester starts! Deep and I had already decided that 6 is enough for us! Then this pregnancy has been VERY VERY VERY rough on me. I can't go through this ever again. Even my OB said I shouldn't get pregnant again.
So in other VERY exciting news....we have our preapproval in hand for a mortgage!!! YAYYYYYYY!!! The house hunt has been much less exciting. The area where we live currently is the area we'd like to stay. There are hardly any houses for sale in this area. Once they are listed they sell in 3 days, and it is a sellers market in this area. NO negotiation on price at all. OY!
So now I'm just kinda hanging out waiting to see how things go on both my health & the house hunt!
Deep is super busy all the time...work, travel, school, handling new house purchase stuff, etc. He has his final for his class next week. We are hoping and praying that it goes smoothly for him! =) He had a great article posted in the Indiana Tech alumni publication. Here is the link to that publication: (go to view page or scroll to page 32)
http://indianatech.edu/alumni/Documents/trends/2012-Spring.pdf
He has a full page photo! The article is great! It is inspirational! What can I say I am one proud wife!! =) I am so truly blessed to have this amazing man in my life! =)
Kamdyn seems to be struggling with school a bit this year. She is in an awkward phase right now. She's growing so super fast we can't keep shoes to fit her, and I can't buy her clothes without her trying them on as she seems to have skipped sizes. Her teacher told me that she is kind of a needy kid who has a hard time with the independence of "pre-middle school" school. (they started changing classes for subjects this year, and they are required to be much more responsible for themselves (work, organization, supplies, etc.) Her teacher also told me that she is hopeful it will "click" for her one day soon, and when it "clicks" in this age group they seem to "soar!" I'm hopeful!
Diya is a superstar!! =) She just finished her 2nd round of gymnastics, and she is soooo super bored with it! It isn't fast paced enough for her. So we have decided to sign her up for competitive cheer/dance. She is so excited! In school she is doing well. She is one lazy kid when it comes to things we ask of her. She will try to get someone to "help" (i.e.do her homework for her) any chance she gets. Diya is a social butterfly. She knows/recognizes someone nearly everywhere we go.
Max is doing great! Aside from his occasional snarky behavior, he seems to be doing wonderful! He is going to play flag football this spring. He has his first practice 4/12/12. He loves kindergarten, and has a few friends that he talks about frequently. He had his first sleepover with one of his friends a few weeks ago. He had a great time! =)
Kohen is a busy little bee! He LOVES preschool! =) He has found a new interest...my iPad! He plays my ipad all day long...well until the battery dies. Then we plug it in so he can play it again asap! We have to take it with us everywhere we go. It is the only (calm) way we can get him to let us buckle him in his carseat. OY! He is learning a lot from it though...so it's ok in the end...I guess! =) Kohen LOVESSSS Thomas the Train! He loves watching train videos on YouTube, and let me tell you he can bring up youtube on his own & find the train videos! Kohen went to the dr. on 4/9/12. He weighed 29.6 lbs and was 36 1/2 inches tall! Kohen is growing! =)
Devas is starting to talk! He can repeat lots of sounds/words. He says "tank (long pause) dew" which means thank you. It's too cute! He is 18 months old now. Devas is super busy and always getting into some kind of mischief. Oy he keeps us busy! He can climb super fast! He always doing something goofy. He loves to play outside. He will push and shove to be the first out the door. Devas LOVES to give kisses. He even has a cute little "kissy face!" It's super cute. He will put his hands on your cheeks and turn your head his way so he can give kisses. He's such a lovey little guy! =)
So that is our update....hopefully soon we will have some exciting house news, and of course I would love to start feeling better. Time will tell. Please remember us in your prayers as we go through this crazy time in our life.
We have also (kind of) started a dog hunt. We promised Max a long time ago that once we have our own house we would get a dog. He really wants a big dog, and I am so in love with Goldendoodles. So we have been browsing looking for Goldendoodles. I can't wait to be in our house so we can fulfill his wish, and get the kids a dog! =)
Thanks for catching up on us! =)

OY & an a very random update!
Today I am home with a sick little guy! Kohen was up all night coughing until he threw up. So we are home today while the rest of the family are at church. I am starting to feel a little down also. My throat is hurting, and I feel wiped out!
It is raining here today. It looks so dreary outside.
Kamdyn had a basketball game yesterday. She played for a few minutes...she is the youngest, smallest, and most afraid of the ball *;)* on her team of 4th, 5th, & 6th graders. Kamdyn had a good play...she had a steal & an assist!!! YAY! Our friends (Hoskins Family) came to watch Kam's game yesterday. She was so excited they were there! I have to say I have the very best friends!!! Tuesday she has a scrimmage against another team of 4th & 5th graders. So she will hopefully play a bit more...I'm praying for an injury free game. After all, she is her Mother's Daughter! ;)
I am sure hoping that this yucky illness passes over our house quickly! I am dreading it passing from child to child!
Diya starts gymnastics in a little under 2 weeks! She is excited and can't wait!
Deep is a part of Knights of Columbus. Yesterday they gathered together to take gifts/fruit and sing Christmas carols for a local retirement home. He took Kohen & Max with him. Max handed out a banana & tangerine to the residents. The residents just ADORED Max! They wanted their photos taken with him. =) They all had a great time!
God has definitely blessed our family! I love sharing our blessings!!

Kamdyn, Diya, & Max parent teacher conference
I had the 3 older kids Parent/Teacher conference on Nov. 17.
Let me start off by saying that I have AMAZING children! They are respectful, loving, and just overall awesome kids!!!
Kamdyn's teachers sang her praises. She is a great kid. She is always on task, a total rule follower, and a great student. The only issue was she has become very quiet this year. They would like to see her be more social in class. I spoke with her homeroom teacher first. She said to tell Kamdyn to stay on the straight and narrow. That it will get her far in life. Next I spoke with her social studies teacher. She said Kamdyn is quiet. I shared with her that Kamdyn is intimidated by her. She said because I am loud?!? She told me to tell Kam that "her bark is much bigger than her bite," and that she "was raised in a family of 5 kids. She had to be loud to get heard." Her science teacher also spoke highly of Kamdyn. Kamdyn's only B was in this class. Kamdyn struggles to hear this teacher. She is very quiet. Overall a great P/T conference for Kam!
Diya's teacher is a hoot!!! She is so lively, and so incredibly loving! She shared that Diya is a social butterfly. She does well socially! Her reading has improved from approaching grade level to at grade level. She loves to write! The comment on the report card from the teacher's comments area came straight from Diya's mouth- That her favorite part of school is writing. She loves that she can write about anything that she wants to. She would like to stretch out her wording a bit better. =) Diya's teachers shared a few other things...cute stories with me. She is very loved by her teacher and classmates! Again overall a great P/T conference for Diya!
Max's conference was great! I really enjoyed talking to his teacher! She told me that Max is just so funny. She said she bets our house is so fun and lively! She shared with me that Max is always telling her funny stories. She said she laughs so hard at him. She said that the boys in the class have taken to "hard taps/almost slaps" to get others attention. She said Max has been guilty a few times. All the teacher has to do is give him the stink eye then he stops and resumes his work. She said that his Kindergarten screening tests were good. He should have tested at 10 on an alphabet recognition and he scored a 20. On the phonics portion he scored a 6 due to his speech. Max is on an IEP for his speech. He gets speech class 1 time a week. She said in the last 3 weeks the teacher has seen a great improvement in his speech. So we are hopeful that he is doing well. Again another great P/T conference. =)
I am so thrilled with my awesome kids!

Kohen's Parent/Teacher conference
I had Kohen's preschool parent/teacher conference yesterday. I love his preschool. His teachers are so incredible!
I met with Mrs. Kathy & Mrs. Theresa. They started off telling me that Kohen is the youngest student at their preschool. They said that he is so cute and such a cuddly little guy. They both talked about how much they enjoy having him in class. The said that he is right on target in all areas. They said that socially they are working to teach him to share/not take toys from others. He isn't being a bully, but (for instance) if another child is doing a puzzle and the pieces are laying on the floor Kohen will go nab a few pieces. Kind of like he sees them as "fair game." His fine motor skills are what we need to work on at home just to develop them a bit more. At circle time Kohen has a short attention span. They keep him sat next to a teacher each day because as he looses attention in the lesson, he remembers a story that he wants to share with the class & teachers. So the teacher he is sitting with reminds him that they are in circle time, and that he can share the story with them after circle time. So basically they redirect his little mind back to the lesson. The teachers have the kids do a self drawing. Kohen's is a bunch of scribbles. They assured me that was good as many 2 year olds won't draw anything.
The teachers asked how Max is doing in Kindergarten. I shared the K stories with them. They asked if Max would like to pop in and say hi during drop off/pick up next Tues when he is out of school.
Very good P/T conference! I am a pleased Momma!
End of 2011 already?!?
Ok so as I am wrapped up in taking care of my family I completely lose track of everything else. I keep meaning to blog. However, by the time I get to it I have completely forgotten again!
So for a good update on us...
We are still in Michigan! YAY stayed put for 2 years! Kamdyn is in 4th grade, Diya is in 2nd grade, Max is in K, and Kohen goes to preschool Tues & Thurs half days. All kids are doing fab at school. Kamdyn gets real grades this year. So far she gets mostly all A's!
Kamdyn & Diya just finished up their first year of cheer with the Commerce Chargers. I will post videos of their competition. For the most part they loved cheering. They are glad the season is over. Diya is getting ready to start gymnastics and Kamdyn is doing basketball through CYO at our church. Kamdyn hurt her knee at her last regular season game. She strained (possible grade 1 tear) of her MCL. She was on crutches for about a week, and in a brace indefinitely (at this point.) She didn't get to cheer at the playoff games due to the injury. She is on the mend though...THANK GOD!
Max is your typical little boy. He's super active, mouthy, ornery, and oh so loveable! He's much more physical than the girls..who tend to be a bit more verbal. I was a bit nervous that socially he would be intimidated. I asked his teacher how he was doing socially. She burst out in laughter. She told me that he has deemed himself the "master of his table!" She said he does very well academically and socially. *whew* At school he is on an IEP for speech. He gets speech therapy 1 day a week. He is definitely making improvements. He comes home from school with stories every day.
Kohen has really blossomed in the past few months. He talks NON-stop! He loved preschool for the first week or so. Then the next month he would cry when we dropped him off. Finally last week we had a breakthrough! He now loves preschool again! I have his parent/teacher conference this Thursday. I will try to update on how he is doing after that. Kohen was a pirate for Halloween. We had a costume for him and I was telling him about it. He told me "NO! Ko-man wants to be a pirate! Mom, pirates say arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhh!!" It was very cute! He did fabulous trick-or-treating last night. He was the cutest little pirate. He said "Trick-or-Treat arghhh” to each person.
Devas just turned 1! He is walking and repeating sounds. He holds his own in our crazy family! Devas has 6 teeth. He was a pumpkin for Halloween. He even went trick-or-treating at a few houses.
Deep is doing great! His job is going well. We had an opportunity for a quick minute to move to upstate NY. We are not leaving MI currently though. We are OK with this, and we hoping to buy a house in the next few months! YAY...big step for our family!!! Deep is doing his masters at University of Michigan. He is doing GREAT! We are all so proud of him.
I finally finished my doula classes! I have 1 more birth to complete before I can apply for certification! I have also been taking photography classes, and I am looking to start my own photography business.
OK good general update on us...stay tuned. Hopefully I will do better keeping up!

Back again...
So I keep thinking that I need to start writing in this blog about the silly things my kids do each day or possibly the deals I find online. So I've decided to start up again.
Here is my kiddo funny for the day...
A few days ago Max was trying to find something. I told him the exact location, and he kept asking if he could look other places. So we had a little bickering. Suddenly he gets very frusturated with me and storms upstairs toward his room. On his way up he yells at me..."WHY CAN'T YOU JUST TREAT ME LIKE A NORMAL CHILD!" I cracked up laughing. He is a hoot!
This week has been interesting...Kohen was crazy at the Dr. on Monday. Devas was 1 oz shy of being 17 lbs at the Dr. on Monday. Tuesday & this evening Max threw an all out tantrum...including him telling me "I wish I never had you!" and "I don't love you!" HE told me (his mother) these things at 4 years old! Oh how these kiddos grow up fast!
I'm so glad that tomorrow is Friday! YAY!
