Yesterday we got word that the kids report cards were available on Skyward. We checked them with the kids on the phone, and we were so very pleasantly surprised!!!
Kamdyn struggled for a short bit this year, but she completed the year with all As!!! She did very well in the last 9 weeks! =)
Max did well. He is right where he is supposed to be as far as academics, and he is progressing very well on his Speech IEP.
Diya.....I can't even begin to explain how extremely proud we are of Diya....more that she should be very proud of herself!!! The last half of the year has been very hard for Diya. Since my health has taken a turn for the worst our whole family has been in "survival mode" in a sense. We have not had a lot of extra time or energy to do anything extra. Me being sick has truly taken a HUGE toll on our whole family. A few months ago Diya's teacher emailed us to inform us that Diya had not done/or turned in her homework in over a month nor had she been reading any books. Diya has always been a hesitant reader...so for her to go without reading for a month was detrimental to her education! (Please no judgements as Deep & I already hold ourselves responsible, and we worked through this issue!) It was highly recommended that Diya go to summer school so she could catch up and avoid the summer slide. We made an appt to talk to Diya's teacher & guidance counselor. We explained our family situation to both. We explained that our family is going through a lot right now, and basically we are living in survival mode. We are fighting to keep Mom (me) alive and going. Both Diya's teacher and guidance counselor understood our situation, and both offered lots of advice & offered to step in and help with Diya. The guidance counselor started meeting with Diya so she could talk to her about her feelings with me being so sick and constantly in and out of the hospital. It is important to remember that for the greater part of our kids lives Deep and I have been on our own. We have never had family close by to help out. Deep & I are our childrens' parents and that is how it is. Since I've been sick we've had people in and out of their lives. It is a big change. When we spoke with Diya's teacher she was very worried that with the advancement changes in the reading curriculum that Diya would test below or approaching grade level for reading, and the other grades would not be good either. So with Diya's teacher, guidance counselors, and the little extra effort that Deep, myself, Kamdyn, Janice, Ketryna, and my parents have put in....I am so INCREDIBLY PROUD to share that Diya tested AT grade level for reading, and her math benchmark was 95%!! She finished the year with a BANG! We are soooooooooooo incredibly proud of her, and she should be soooooooooo incredibly proud of herself!!! Diya will be doing a couple of summer reading/writing programs, and hopefully that will keep her on track for 3rd grade!!
So as of last week....we currently have Kamdyn as a 5th grader, Diya as a 3rd grader, Max as a 1st grader, and Kohen as a 2nd year preschooler! Our kids are amazing, and they should all be as proud of themselves as we are proud of them!
Kiddos, Momma & Daddy love you with all of our heart, and we are so very proud to be your parents!! =)
I'm Keli. I am 33 years old. I have been happily married to Deep for 13 years! We have 6 kids: Kamdyn- 10, Diya- 8, Max- 6, Kohen 3, Devas born 9/23/2010, and Baby Kaityn Jenieva-Faith born 4 weeks early on 6/27/12. This blog is about the excitement of our lives...

Kamdyn, Diya, & Max parent teacher conference
I had the 3 older kids Parent/Teacher conference on Nov. 17.
Let me start off by saying that I have AMAZING children! They are respectful, loving, and just overall awesome kids!!!
Kamdyn's teachers sang her praises. She is a great kid. She is always on task, a total rule follower, and a great student. The only issue was she has become very quiet this year. They would like to see her be more social in class. I spoke with her homeroom teacher first. She said to tell Kamdyn to stay on the straight and narrow. That it will get her far in life. Next I spoke with her social studies teacher. She said Kamdyn is quiet. I shared with her that Kamdyn is intimidated by her. She said because I am loud?!? She told me to tell Kam that "her bark is much bigger than her bite," and that she "was raised in a family of 5 kids. She had to be loud to get heard." Her science teacher also spoke highly of Kamdyn. Kamdyn's only B was in this class. Kamdyn struggles to hear this teacher. She is very quiet. Overall a great P/T conference for Kam!
Diya's teacher is a hoot!!! She is so lively, and so incredibly loving! She shared that Diya is a social butterfly. She does well socially! Her reading has improved from approaching grade level to at grade level. She loves to write! The comment on the report card from the teacher's comments area came straight from Diya's mouth- That her favorite part of school is writing. She loves that she can write about anything that she wants to. She would like to stretch out her wording a bit better. =) Diya's teachers shared a few other things...cute stories with me. She is very loved by her teacher and classmates! Again overall a great P/T conference for Diya!
Max's conference was great! I really enjoyed talking to his teacher! She told me that Max is just so funny. She said she bets our house is so fun and lively! She shared with me that Max is always telling her funny stories. She said she laughs so hard at him. She said that the boys in the class have taken to "hard taps/almost slaps" to get others attention. She said Max has been guilty a few times. All the teacher has to do is give him the stink eye then he stops and resumes his work. She said that his Kindergarten screening tests were good. He should have tested at 10 on an alphabet recognition and he scored a 20. On the phonics portion he scored a 6 due to his speech. Max is on an IEP for his speech. He gets speech class 1 time a week. She said in the last 3 weeks the teacher has seen a great improvement in his speech. So we are hopeful that he is doing well. Again another great P/T conference. =)
I am so thrilled with my awesome kids!

Kohen's Parent/Teacher conference
I had Kohen's preschool parent/teacher conference yesterday. I love his preschool. His teachers are so incredible!
I met with Mrs. Kathy & Mrs. Theresa. They started off telling me that Kohen is the youngest student at their preschool. They said that he is so cute and such a cuddly little guy. They both talked about how much they enjoy having him in class. The said that he is right on target in all areas. They said that socially they are working to teach him to share/not take toys from others. He isn't being a bully, but (for instance) if another child is doing a puzzle and the pieces are laying on the floor Kohen will go nab a few pieces. Kind of like he sees them as "fair game." His fine motor skills are what we need to work on at home just to develop them a bit more. At circle time Kohen has a short attention span. They keep him sat next to a teacher each day because as he looses attention in the lesson, he remembers a story that he wants to share with the class & teachers. So the teacher he is sitting with reminds him that they are in circle time, and that he can share the story with them after circle time. So basically they redirect his little mind back to the lesson. The teachers have the kids do a self drawing. Kohen's is a bunch of scribbles. They assured me that was good as many 2 year olds won't draw anything.
The teachers asked how Max is doing in Kindergarten. I shared the K stories with them. They asked if Max would like to pop in and say hi during drop off/pick up next Tues when he is out of school.
Very good P/T conference! I am a pleased Momma!
