Day 30 of Thanks!

Well folks today is wrapping up the Month of Thanks! I loved doing this...it made me stop and think about what I am truly thankful for. I gotta tell you a few times I typed up what I was thankful for and by the next day I was wondering...am I really thankful for that?! At the moment that I typed it up I was truly thankful for it...so I guess it all ends up working out.

Day 30:

Today I am truly thankful for Deep, my kids, my Gram, and my parents. I am not sure if I have done a thankful post for my gram...if not this is it! My Gram is an amazing woman. She is always there for me (us) in any way we need. She loves us unconditionally! She has amazing faith, and she lets the faith shine right through her! My Gram is an Angel on earth! I love her with all that I have and all that I am! She helped raise me so I see her as a Motherly figure. I feel very blessed to have such an amazing woman in my life!

Deep, my kids, and my parents I have already shared why I am thankful for them...just thought it needed said again! =)

Day 29:

I am thankful that I have had the opportunity to live in several places/states. We have met so many nice people, and our kids have had the chance to change schools. It has made them much more confident in situations where they are around new people. I feel blessed to have had all the opportunities we have been given! I thank God for all the amazing places, people, and opportunities we have been given! =)

Kamdyn, Diya, & Max parent teacher conference

I had the 3 older kids Parent/Teacher conference on Nov. 17.

Let me start off by saying that I have AMAZING children! They are respectful, loving, and just overall awesome kids!!!

Kamdyn's teachers sang her praises. She is a great kid. She is always on task, a total rule follower, and a great student. The only issue was she has become very quiet this year. They would like to see her be more social in class. I spoke with her homeroom teacher first. She said to tell Kamdyn to stay on the straight and narrow. That it will get her far in life. Next I spoke with her social studies teacher. She said Kamdyn is quiet. I shared with her that Kamdyn is intimidated by her. She said because I am loud?!? She told me to tell Kam that "her bark is much bigger than her bite," and that she "was raised in a family of 5 kids. She had to be loud to get heard." Her science teacher also spoke highly of Kamdyn. Kamdyn's only B was in this class. Kamdyn struggles to hear this teacher. She is very quiet. Overall a great P/T conference for Kam!

Diya's teacher is a hoot!!! She is so lively, and so incredibly loving! She shared that Diya is a social butterfly. She does well socially! Her reading has improved from approaching grade level to at grade level. She loves to write! The comment on the report card from the teacher's comments area came straight from Diya's mouth- That her favorite part of school is writing. She loves that she can write about anything that she wants to. She would like to stretch out her wording a bit better. =) Diya's teachers shared a few other things...cute stories with me. She is very loved by her teacher and classmates! Again overall a great P/T conference for Diya!

Max's conference was great! I really enjoyed talking to his teacher! She told me that Max is just so funny. She said she bets our house is so fun and lively! She shared with me that Max is always telling her funny stories. She said she laughs so hard at him. She said that the boys in the class have taken to "hard taps/almost slaps" to get others attention. She said Max has been guilty a few times. All the teacher has to do is give him the stink eye then he stops and resumes his work. She said that his Kindergarten screening tests were good. He should have tested at 10 on an alphabet recognition and he scored a 20. On the phonics portion he scored a 6 due to his speech. Max is on an IEP for his speech. He gets speech class 1 time a week. She said in the last 3 weeks the teacher has seen a great improvement in his speech. So we are hopeful that he is doing well. Again another great P/T conference. =)

I am so thrilled with my awesome kids!

Day 27 of Thanks...

I'm so glad to be home!!!!! While our trip to Ohio was fun, I was so ready to get home...to my house...where my life is centered! I love living here! =)

Day 27:

Today I am so thankful for my life in another state! I only have to worry about keeping my kids, my husband, and myself in a healthy/happy state. I get to choose which other relationships to nurture, keep going, and invest in! I don't have to deal with family drama up close and personal on a daily basis! Also Michigan beat Ohio State yesterday! GO BLUE!!! =)

Day 23 of Thanks...

Today is my birthday!!! I am 32 years young today. =)

Day 23:

Today I am very thankful for my parents! Knowing that my birthday was in these 30 days I wanted to save my mom & dad for today. They have always been there for me. They nurtured me and always showed me the best choices my whole life. I am so thankful to have both of my parents with me. My dad fought a very aggressive last year, and I am so thankful that his surgery went well. He is currently cancer free! Praise God!!

My parents have always been a great support for me. They have helped me when I am down, and picked me up when I've needed it.

My parents are great grandparents to my kids. My kids absolutely adore their Meme & Paw!

I love you Mom & Dad! Thanks for being my parents! I love you both very very much!!! Happy Keli's Birthday (delivery day) to you Mom...since you did all the hard work! ;) I love you!

Day 22:

Today I am absolutely thankful for my oldest "kiddo" Khiley. Khiley is actually my cousin, and I got custody of her in 2007. She lived with us for about 3 years. Last year in December Khiley married a wonderful man named Walt. Yesterday afternoon at 4:10 Khiley gave birth to a BEAUTIFUL baby boy named Hunter Edward Taylor. He was born via emergency cesarean section. He weighed a whopping 8 lbs 4 oz & was 22 inches long. I am so proud of Khiley. She did a fabulous job yesterday! I am so thrilled to be a "KiKi" (my name for grandma LOL) to sweet little Hunter! I also got quite acquainted with Hunter's MawMaw, Belinda (Walt's Mother), yesterday. She is such a blessing to Khiley, Walt, & Hunter. Thank you Belinda!!! <3

God has blessed Khiley & Walt...and the rest of us with a sweet baby boy! So today I am absolutely, amazingly thrilled to say that I am so very thankful for Khiley, Walt, Belinda, and of course Mr. Hunter!!! I love you all!

Day 21 of Thanks..

Day 21:

Today is my very best friend's birthday! She is such a blessing in my life. She tells me the truth when I need to hear it, and she listens to me complain when I feel the need. She has been a true blessing in my life in the last 2 years. God has shown me what a true friend is. Missi is one of the most beautiful, amazing, friendly, giving, and kind-hearted friends that anyone could ever have! She has done so much for me I don't even know how to begin to thank her. She has a beautiful family, and I feel so privileged to be a part of that family. She has an awesome hubby & fabulous kids! They complete her. So many people think that they will be friends forever with their "high school friends." Most of the time those friendships fade away....well I am blessed having my high school best friend still be my best friend today. I love you Missi! I hope you have an AMAZING BIRTHDAY!!! XOXO

He provides for us, he helps me with the kids...changing diapers doesn't scare him!, he helps around the house...I could go on and on. I truly feel blessed in life because I am truly married to the VERY BEST MAN for me! =) God knew what he was doing when he brought the 2 of us together! Thanks Deep for being such an amazing man. Today I am thankful for church! As we are getting ready for church this morning I am reminded why I am so thankful for our church (Holy Family in Novi & St. Jude in Fort Wayne.) Every Sunday we have all this hussle-bussle getting ready and getting to church. Then once we arrive a calm feeling takes over. We are there to hear the word of the Lord, and have it speak to us. We often feel like the homilies are directed right at us, and are exactly what we need to hear at that very moment. I feel very blessed to have such amazing churches to raise our kids in. They all enjoy religious ed, and now Kamdyn is even playing a winter sport through CYO at our church. Also Deep is a member of the KofC. Our family has been able to integrate into this church, and it is such a positive part of our life!

So I am reminded by this just how special grandparents are.

Day 1- MyJobChart.com

WOAH! As I was browsing through pintrest today I found a template for a chore chart for the kids. It was no longer available to print so I went on a search for a template, and I ran across this awesome site....(I feel like I should insert a big drumroll here!)

WOWSA! What an amazing idea! You set it up for your family, and each child gets a log in with a password of their own. You assign each child chores, and they get points. You then set up rewards that they can spend their points on. My kids rewards are family game night, gift certificate to store of choice, shopping day with mom & dad, dinner out, or donate to a few specific charities.

I am going to totally brag....since getting home they have done nearly all their chores and alone reading time WITH NO FIGHTING!!! YAY!!!

Kohen funny

So Kohen watches Chuggington on Disney a lot. He loves the characters and talks about them quite often. Last night he was talking about Action Chugger...except he calls him "Ass Chugger." LOL I really love this stage in the little kids life! =)

Kohen's Parent/Teacher conference

I had Kohen's preschool parent/teacher conference yesterday. I love his preschool. His teachers are so incredible!

I met with Mrs. Kathy & Mrs. Theresa. They started off telling me that Kohen is the youngest student at their preschool. They said that he is so cute and such a cuddly little guy. They both talked about how much they enjoy having him in class. The said that he is right on target in all areas. They said that socially they are working to teach him to share/not take toys from others. He isn't being a bully, but (for instance) if another child is doing a puzzle and the pieces are laying on the floor Kohen will go nab a few pieces. Kind of like he sees them as "fair game." His fine motor skills are what we need to work on at home just to develop them a bit more. At circle time Kohen has a short attention span. They keep him sat next to a teacher each day because as he looses attention in the lesson, he remembers a story that he wants to share with the class & teachers. So the teacher he is sitting with reminds him that they are in circle time, and that he can share the story with them after circle time. So basically they redirect his little mind back to the lesson. The teachers have the kids do a self drawing. Kohen's is a bunch of scribbles. They assured me that was good as many 2 year olds won't draw anything.

The teachers asked how Max is doing in Kindergarten. I shared the K stories with them. They asked if Max would like to pop in and say hi during drop off/pick up next Tues when he is out of school.

Very good P/T conference! I am a pleased Momma!

Day 4 of Thanks!

So I've made it to day 4! YAY!

Today, I am truly thankful for my friends. I've been truly blessed with a small handful of friends that truly are God's way of giving me siblings (from anotha' motha' LOL!) They listen to me, pick me up and dust me off when I've fallen, and support me through all of my crazy endeavors! So friends, THANK YOU! I love you all very much, and I am glad that God blessed me with you!

Haircuts for Kamdyn & Diya

Yesterday I took Kamdyn & Diya for a haircut. Kamdyn has grown out her hair for about a year and a half so that she can donate her hair to Locks of Love. She had to wait until after cheer was done for the year because they have to pull up their hair in high pony tails or french braids for games/competition. Diya had her hair cut a few months ago, and she was in need of a good trim, and again I wanted to wait until she had finished cheer.

Here are their photos-

Diya looks so cute with this hair style! Having it short makes it much easier to take of! Kamdyn's new 'do looks very cute with a little flower in her hair. It is the first time she has ever had bangs. I was upset when I saw he had cut her bangs, but we will roll with it. She was OK with the haircut last night, but this morning before school she cried. She was very scared that kids would tell her she's ugly. It broke my heart. I've been praying that she has a good day at school, and kids are nice to her. Her hair grows rather quickly...thankfully!

Day 3 of Thanks!

Day 3: Today I am thankful for living in Michigan. Living here has been so incredibly good for our life! My kids have an amazing school that they attend. We love the area we live.

Wednesday, November 2, 2011

Day 2 of thanks!

Day 2: I'm thankful for the beautiful fall leaves.

Tuesday, November 1, 2011

November is a month of THANKS!

So since it's November, I'm going to post something every day from now until Thanksgiving that I am truly thankful for! =)

Day 1: I am thankful for my hubby! I feel truly blessed to have the honor of having you walk beside me through this life!

I challenge you to also share something each day that you are thankful for! =)

Kamdyn's 2011 cheerfest- cheer

Kamdyn's Cheerfest 2011- poms

Diya's cheerfest 2011 Poms

End of 2011 already?!?

Ok so as I am wrapped up in taking care of my family I completely lose track of everything else. I keep meaning to blog. However, by the time I get to it I have completely forgotten again!

So for a good update on us...

We are still in Michigan! YAY stayed put for 2 years! Kamdyn is in 4th grade, Diya is in 2nd grade, Max is in K, and Kohen goes to preschool Tues & Thurs half days. All kids are doing fab at school. Kamdyn gets real grades this year. So far she gets mostly all A's!

Kamdyn & Diya just finished up their first year of cheer with the Commerce Chargers. I will post videos of their competition. For the most part they loved cheering. They are glad the season is over. Diya is getting ready to start gymnastics and Kamdyn is doing basketball through CYO at our church. Kamdyn hurt her knee at her last regular season game. She strained (possible grade 1 tear) of her MCL. She was on crutches for about a week, and in a brace indefinitely (at this point.) She didn't get to cheer at the playoff games due to the injury. She is on the mend though...THANK GOD!

Max is your typical little boy. He's super active, mouthy, ornery, and oh so loveable! He's much more physical than the girls..who tend to be a bit more verbal. I was a bit nervous that socially he would be intimidated. I asked his teacher how he was doing socially. She burst out in laughter. She told me that he has deemed himself the "master of his table!" She said he does very well academically and socially. *whew* At school he is on an IEP for speech. He gets speech therapy 1 day a week. He is definitely making improvements. He comes home from school with stories every day.

Kohen has really blossomed in the past few months. He talks NON-stop! He loved preschool for the first week or so. Then the next month he would cry when we dropped him off. Finally last week we had a breakthrough! He now loves preschool again! I have his parent/teacher conference this Thursday. I will try to update on how he is doing after that. Kohen was a pirate for Halloween. We had a costume for him and I was telling him about it. He told me "NO! Ko-man wants to be a pirate! Mom, pirates say arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhh!!" It was very cute! He did fabulous trick-or-treating last night. He was the cutest little pirate. He said "Trick-or-Treat arghhh” to each person.

Devas just turned 1! He is walking and repeating sounds. He holds his own in our crazy family! Devas has 6 teeth. He was a pumpkin for Halloween. He even went trick-or-treating at a few houses.

Deep is doing great! His job is going well. We had an opportunity for a quick minute to move to upstate NY. We are not leaving MI currently though. We are OK with this, and we hoping to buy a house in the next few months! YAY...big step for our family!!! Deep is doing his masters at University of Michigan. He is doing GREAT! We are all so proud of him.

I finally finished my doula classes! I have 1 more birth to complete before I can apply for certification! I have also been taking photography classes, and I am looking to start my own photography business.

OK good general update on us...stay tuned. Hopefully I will do better keeping up!
