Day 2: November a month to be thankful!

Day 2: Today I am thankful for the Children's Hospital of Michigan. This hospital and their amazing staff saved my tiny baby's life! The time we spent there was life changing and stressful, but the staff was amazing! They took great care of our sweet girl, and counseled us through the process. Today Kaity has a procedure at CHM. We are nervous for it, but we know she is in great hands! =)

BIG HUGE UPDATE part 2

Before I go any further Kaityn's name is pronounced KATE-IN. A different spelling would be Katen. We just like to be different and challenging....haha. =)  Kaityn Jenieva-Faith (Jenieva: pronounced Geneva- she's named after her great grandmother) and the kids chose Faith.  Diya told me that they chose Faith because they had FAITH in me that I could make it through the rough pregnancy and they had FAITH in God that He would guide us through.  Bless their heart!  I truly have amazing kids!  them!

Anyway....on with my story....

The kids came to the hospital and met Kaityn.  They all (especially Diya!) just adored her!  Diya got to come and meet Kaity before any of the other kids.  It was special for her! =) My parents, Janice, Ketryna, and the kiddos all came to meet her. It was very nice!

Kaity and I were released to go home on June 29. It was 3 weeks to the day since I had been home! I was sure excited to get home!  Of course the big deal of the day was that Baby Kaity had NO clothes small enough for her to wear home!  Deep went on a hunt for preemie clothing.  He hardly found anything at all!  He went to at least 5 stores and finally at a Carters store they had a small section with preemie clothing.  He bought everything they had for a girl!  So he got her clothes just before we left the hospital!

Kaity was very fussy at home. I have never had a newborn be that fussy...so I wasn't sure what was going on. While we were in the hospital she had a couple of gaggy/choking episodes.  The nurses assured me it was due to "fuzz balls" from the amniotic fluid. When this happened her body stiffened up and she turned red. She wasn't able to get a good breath in.  It scared me terribly.  The nurses checked her each time, and said it was "normal."  So back to her first week home.  She was fussy.  We had a few weight checks. Before we left the hospital she was 4lbs 11 oz.  She dropped down to 4 lbs 5 oz. We had a weight check 2 days late later she had gained 1 oz (this was Thursday) up to 4 lbs 6 oz.

Kaityn's first week home was a HOT ONE!!! We ended up taking a "stay-cation" to a hotel near here. Our house was 90 degrees inside...way too hot!  So we planned to go stay in this hotel for the weekend...Fri-Sun.

7/7/12: Saturday morning Kaity woke up early. Very early in the morning she started having a seizure/choking/not breathing episode. She had about 5 episodes right in a row.  She would go about 30-45 seconds without catching a breath. Her whole body would stiffen up, eyes would get huge, she turned BRIGHT red all over her body, her lips turned blue, and once she could get a breath she would let out the most terrified/terrifying scream.  It was so incredibly heart breaking to see our baby like this. I woke Deep up because I was so scared. He talked me down....I was completely ready to call 911. Had we of been home I probably would have.  So fast forward a few hours...I noticed Kaity had a "barky" cough.  So I called her pediatrician's after hours phone number. Her pediatrician told us to take the baby to the hospital ER.  At the hotel Deep had taken the kids downstairs to swim.  So I went down and explained to him that we needed to go to the ER. They all got out of the pool, got ready, and we headed home then toward the hospital.  Thankfully we had Janice and Ketryna here still. They stayed with the kids so we could both take Kaity to the hospital.

We arrived at the hospital in the evening. It was before dinner time. The triage nurse checked Kaityn's vitals. Immediately we were walked to a trauma room. Her heart rate was dropping very low...like 50s when it should have been well over 100-120. Her O2 was low, and her respiration count was decreased. We got followed into a trauma room with a peds crash cart! The room filled up with people...quickly!  They got my itty bitty baby hooked up to lots of monitors and an IV.  A neonatologist came to check her out.  They did lots of tests.  The decision was made to transport her to Children's Hospital of Michigan AKA Detroit Children's Hospital. She HAD to be transported via PANDA One. (Pediatric and Neonatal Dedicated Ambulance). So we waited on PANDA One to get to Huron Valley to transport her. They arrived between 8 & 8:30. After taking all of her info, getting her loaded and such...we were on the road to transport her at 9 PM. We arrived at CHM at 10 PM.  We were taken into the ER. The first thing I remember is being bombarded by the ER staff. I remember a specific gal asking us..."Do you bed share? Where does she sleep? Was your breast covering her mouth/nose when this happened? Was her face in a pillow or blanket?"etc. The questions seemed to never end, and while I realize they are standard questions to ask of this type of situation...it was VERY overwhelming at that moment.  I was trying to get in my child's ER room to be with her when they unloaded her from the incubator (that's what they transported in for the ambulance ride) as she was screaming, and this woman was blocking me from entering the room.  I started getting quite angry with the woman, and it was visible on my face and in the way I spoke to the lady.  FINALLY I think she sensed my anger and let me get to my child.  Kaity had several tests done...from bloodwork, urine analysis, etc. The Dr. came in and spoke with us and informed us that she needed a spinal tap.  I nearly broke down.  A spinal tap on a 10 day old baby...this was the same procedure that left me nearly lifeless a few months earlier.  I had to leave the room when this procedure was done. I couldn't handle my sweet little baby going through that. =( Deep stayed with her.  He text me when they were done, and I immediately went in to be with my girl. The decision was made to move her to NICU.  We got no real answers as to what was going on in the ER.

I will write our NICU story in the next post....stay tuned for part 3!

BIG HUGE UPDATE.....Part 1 (pre-proof read)

***********Please note I've typed this up over a few days...ok it's taken me at least 12 days of working on this.  I have not proof read yet to make sure it all makes sense.  I will get back later to do that!***********

So I really slacked off with my blog in the last week of my pregnancy.  Mentally I was preparing to give birth, and while I thought several times about writing my 36 week pregnancy update...I just couldn't motivate myself to do it.  I think it had a lot to do with the fact that I was facing the very last week of my very last pregnancy.  It held (still holds) a weight over me.

June 22 I saw my perinatologist.  She decided that we should induce on Monday. I would be 36 weeks pregnant that day.

June 24- Sunday evening my OB came in to check me, and I was 1 cm dilated. We turned off my heparin at 8:30 PM.  I had to wait 6 hours before any induction meds could be administered.

June 25- Early Monday morning at 2:30 I had prostiglandin gel placed in my cervix. Its "job" is to ripen the cervix to help prepare for childbirth.  At around 8 AM pitocin was started.  I was on the pitocin all day.  I contracted but had very little change to my cervix. The baby was not tolerating the contractions well. She was having a lot of late contraction heart decels. So the decision was made to shut down the induction process at around 6 PM.  I was able to eat a bit, and get some rest.  The hospital staff monitored the fetal heart tones for a while to be sure that she was doing well. At 11:30 I had cervadil placed for the night. I got a little bit of rest. Sheli was with us during the long labor. She and Deep slept on the pull out chairs. They each got a little rest.

June 26- Pitocin was started at around 5 AM.  Again I contracted, but I had very little change cervically. At around 1:45 PM my OB came in to chat with me. I was so frustrated at the time that I suggested a cesarean section. He said that we could go that route, but that my chance of mortality increased 3 to 4 times due to being on the blood thinners for so long. I decided that a c-section was not in mine or the baby's best interest. We chatted about other options. I suggested a foley cath. My OB said that was a great recommendation. So the cath was placed at 2:30 PM. It puts pressure above and below your cervix to cause it to dilate. I was a bear to deal with during this labor. My nurses were quite accustomed to me as I had been in the hospital for nearly 3 weeks at this point. I am sure that my behavior surprised them. OY!  My day nurse told me "I have not heard so much swearing in a long time....and I like it!!" HAHA It was an interesting labor to say the least. Anyway...the nurses switched shifts, and shortly after my (one of my favorites!!!) night nurse came in the cath fell out (between 7:30-8PM). My cervix had finally made some progress!!! YAY! I was 3-4 cm.  Again I spoke with my OB, and we decided to proceed with an epidural and then breaking my water. At around 9:30-10 PM I got the epidural. My water was broken just a bit later. The amniotic fluid had meconium in it...it was a concern. We called home, and Kamdyn was brought to the hospital at around 11-11:30. We all relaxed and got some rest. Kamdyn slept on the pull out chair. Sheli & Deep slept sitting up. Sheli was sitting in a chair leaning over the little table laying her head on a pillow. Bless her!

June 27- It was a LONG night!  Again I made little progress through most of the night. I think everyone was getting very frustrated with me...well my body! Finally around 5AM I started slowly progressing. I was 4cm dilated most of the night. At around 5AM I was moving toward 5. Through the night the dr. put in the internal fetal heart monitor and the internal uterine pressure monitor. Everyone woke up and things picked up between 5:30AM-6AM. Shortly before nurse shift change (7AM) I was 6 CM. I was lucky enough to get my one of my other favorite nurses. She came in and things happened very fast from here on out! The pressure monitor came out shortly after she came in...so she replaced it and checked me. I was progressing quickly. I want to say I was 8 CM at the time. I had started to feel a lot of pain a bit earlier. So my nurse had me move around a bit...roll from side to side. She had just turned me on my left side, and I was really yelling out in pain. She told me that in 2 contractions I would need to push. The next contraction came, and I was quite uncomfortable. The next one came, and I started screaming loudly. My nurse asked if I needed to push. I responded no I needed to have a bowel movement. She had me roll to my back and checked me. I was complete!  My OB & additional staff was called in to help with delivery. Just as my OB walked in and was gowning up I asked if I could push. He said go ahead.  I had been very adamant that I didn't want to hold my legs...I hate that!  Thankfully there wasn't time to worry about that. I pushed hard 1 1/2 pushes, and my OB yelled out to stop she was coming out.  He came over and "guided" her out. At 8:02 AM Kaityn Jenieva Faith Thakur came into this world screaming! She was placed on my belly, and let me tell you...she was a teeny tiny perfect little angel! I said..."oh Baby I would go through all of this 10 times over for you!!" Kamdyn was in awe. She stood beside me holding my hand during the last bit of my labor. She was brought to tears! She sobbed for the longest time!  Kamdyn got to cut the umbilical cord. It was so special to her. Kaityn was taken to the warmer to get cleaned up and such. She weighed 5 lbs 2 oz. She was 19 inches long. Her APGARS were 9/9.  The pediatrician checked her over and said she was perfect! She was brought back to me to have skin to skin time. She did a breast crawl and latched on to nurse very shortly after her birth.  It was perfect!  The amazing love that I felt for this perfect little baby was so overcoming!  All that I had endured through her pregnancy...it was all so very worth it!  She was worth it 100 times over!   Aside from the nurses & hospital staff stopping in to see our new little one...Deep & I spent the rest of the day resting and getting to know our precious little blessing!  God sure blessed us!

KAITY SMILES!!! and vacation

We have a smiley baby!!!  Kaity started smiling today.  It lights up her entire face.  I love this little girl so very much!

We have been on vacation this week.  It is great to get a few days away.  We got to do a few things that we have been wanting to do.  We went way up north!  We rode the Soo Locks boat. We played at one of our favorite beaches in Mackinaw City. We let the kids experience Mackinaw City, the Mackinaw Bridge, and not being "trolls" (living under the bridge) for a bit! We all had a fabulous time.

Kamdyn- 4th grade, Diya- 2nd grade, & Max- kindergarten

Yesterday we got word that the kids report cards were available on Skyward. We checked them with the kids on the phone, and we were so very pleasantly surprised!!!

Kamdyn struggled for a short bit this year, but she completed the year with all As!!! She did very well in the last 9 weeks! =)

Max did well. He is right where he is supposed to be as far as academics, and he is progressing very well on his Speech IEP.

Diya.....I can't even begin to explain how extremely proud we are of Diya....more that she should be very proud of herself!!! The last half of the year has been very hard for Diya. Since my health has taken a turn for the worst our whole family has been in "survival mode" in a sense. We have not had a lot of extra time or energy to do anything extra. Me being sick has truly taken a HUGE toll on our whole family. A few months ago Diya's teacher emailed us to inform us that Diya had not done/or turned in her homework in over a month nor had she been reading any books. Diya has always been a hesitant reader...so for her to go without reading for a month was detrimental to her education! (Please no judgements as Deep & I already hold ourselves responsible, and we worked through this issue!) It was highly recommended that Diya go to summer school so she could catch up and avoid the summer slide. We made an appt to talk to Diya's teacher & guidance counselor. We explained our family situation to both. We explained that our family is going through a lot right now, and basically we are living in survival mode. We are fighting to keep Mom (me) alive and going. Both Diya's teacher and guidance counselor understood our situation, and both offered lots of advice & offered to step in and help with Diya. The guidance counselor started meeting with Diya so she could talk to her about her feelings with me being so sick and constantly in and out of the hospital. It is important to remember that for the greater part of our kids lives Deep and I have been on our own. We have never had family close by to help out. Deep & I are our childrens' parents and that is how it is. Since I've been sick we've had people in and out of their lives. It is a big change. When we spoke with Diya's teacher she was very worried that with the advancement changes in the reading curriculum that Diya would test below or approaching grade level for reading, and the other grades would not be good either. So with Diya's teacher, guidance counselors, and the little extra effort that Deep, myself, Kamdyn, Janice, Ketryna, and my parents have put in....I am so INCREDIBLY PROUD to share that Diya tested AT grade level for reading, and her math benchmark was 95%!! She finished the year with a BANG! We are soooooooooooo incredibly proud of her, and she should be soooooooooo incredibly proud of herself!!! Diya will be doing a couple of summer reading/writing programs, and hopefully that will keep her on track for 3rd grade!!

So as of last week....we currently have Kamdyn as a 5th grader, Diya as a 3rd grader, Max as a 1st grader, and Kohen as a 2nd year preschooler! Our kids are amazing, and they should all be as proud of themselves as we are proud of them!

Kiddos, Momma & Daddy love you with all of our heart, and we are so very proud to be your parents!! =)

35 weeks!!

How far along? 35 weeks

Total weight gain/loss: -1

Sleep: OK...been taking Ambien so I've been sleeping OK.

Best moment this week: Having my growth scan this morning. Baby is measuring 5 lbs 11 oz! Having my Mom, Dad, Deep, my kids, Janice, and Ketryna come to the hospital and having Father's Day lunch with me. I got to leave L&D and go to the cafeteria for a little bit! Having Deep stay at the hospital with me, and seeing him be so very caring for me. He is the best! =) For our anniversary on Saturday he brought me up dinner from Outback. We had steak, crab cakes, baked potatoes, mashed potatoes, bloomin' onion, ahi tuna, and yummy ice cream for dessert. He also brought me calla lillies and a cute little pink teddy bear. I gotta say that I married 1 amazing man! I feel so blessed!

Movement: Baby gets monitored a couple times a day. She likes to play hide 'n seek with the monitors.

Food cravings: seafood, steak & Caesar salad =(

Gender: GIRL!!! She is for sure a SHE!!! =)

Belly Button in or out? In

What I miss: feeling good, being at home with my kids, not puking all the time.

What I am looking forward to: holding this baby in my arms! I can't wait to see her perfect little face! =)

Milestones: 35 weeks!!! WOW...WOW! I had an ultrasound growth scan this morning and she weighed 5 lbs 11 oz. She is measuring right on to a little on the bigger side! My heart is filled with so much love for this little girl. I can't wait until she is here!

Updates in general: I am at a therapeutic level of heparin. I get 2 bags of heparin a day via IV. I spoke with Dr. Puter (peri) last Friday, and she said we can induce at 36 weeks...that means in ONE week my baby daughter will be in my arms! YAY! =) I will probably be in the hospital until baby is born. Last night I started having bad back pain and having contrax every 10-12 mins. I got a vag check and I had not dilated at all, but my cervix was soft. So hopefully my body is doing something right!!! =) Kamdyn & Devas had their teeth cleaning last week. Kamdyn is CAVITY FREE!!!! Now she goes this week to get 3 baby teeth pulled so she can get her braces put on! Devas has to have 2 weak spots fixed on his 2 top front teeth. The other 3 kids go for cleanings next month. Diya had to take a few days off of cheer because she has Osgood Sclaggers...not sure on this spelling. She is feeling much better now, and she is back to her regular practice schedule. Max had his last football game this week. He got a cute little trophy. This week Max & Diya are doing a sports camp through our church, and Kamdyn is doing a dramatic arts camp through WLCSD.

34 weeks- a week late

How far along? 34 weeks

Total weight gain/loss: 0

Sleep: not the best. I got admitted to the hospital on Friday 6/8/12. I never sleep great when I am in the hospital.

Best moment this week: Feeling baby move, kids getting ready for their last few days of school.

Movement: VERY busy!!

Food cravings: nothing. =(

Gender: GIRL!!! She is for sure a SHE!!! =)

Belly Button in or out? In

What I miss: being at home with my kids.

What I am looking forward to: delivering this baby & the kids being done with school for the summer! We are planning to bombard them at the bus stop with water balloons again! =)

Milestones: 34 weeks...WOW!! YAY! Baby is growing! Nesting is starting!

Updates in general: I had an appt. with my perinatologist last Friday. She recommended that I come to L&D (stay for 23 hour observation) for hydration and to have a consult with a few specialists. She wanted me to consult on getting an NJ tube. I saw my hematologist who checked my leg that had be super swollen that I had went to the ER for a few weeks back. He said that my left leg looked a little swollen and felt warm so he ordered a doppler of my left leg. At the ER a few weeks back they basically laughed me out of the ER. The Dr. was super nasty to me telling me that my left leg looks fine, and I heard a nurse in the hallway say "well what does she think we can do for her...she's already taking Lovenox!" I felt like a big stupid idiot. So fast forward to the evening I got admitted to L&D for hydration, and I got the HUGE surprise that I have a DVT in my left leg....exactly where I had shown the ER Dr. (who yelled at me for coming to the ER at 2 AM!) So I have been in L&D since 6/8 getting heparin by IV. I have an IV line going into each arm. OY! No determination how long I will be here yet or how the rest of this pregnancy is going to play out. More to come...

33 weeks!

How far along? 33 weeks

Total weight gain/loss: -4

Sleep: AWFUL!  Between itching, BH contrax, and the baby moving I'm not getting much sleep.

Best moment this week: ehh really rough week.  I guess today during my NST...Baby BGC had the hiccups. I got 2 videos of her hiccuping...the sound and how my tum was moving. =)

Movement: She's been a busy bee this week!  She gets the hiccups a lot now too.

 Food cravings: nothing. =(

Gender: GIRL!!! She is for sure a SHE!!! =)

Belly Button in or out? In

What I miss: feeling good & sleeping well.

What I am looking forward to: delivering this baby!

Milestones: again...33 weeks!  YAY! Baby is growing! Nesting is starting!

Updates in general:Rough week.  I'm going through a very sick,  yucky phase!  I don't want to talk to people. I want to be in bed most of the time.  When I am out of bed I am frustrated at my house because it's messy. =(  I just feel awful! I started the zofran sub-q pump. It's awful. My tum is always sore. We have figured out that the rash on my tummy is an allergic reaction to Lovenox. It has spread to my legs now. So now I am waiting to hear back from the hematologist to see what to do as far as meds are concerned. =/

32 weeks!

I have had a very rough day. I've been very moody & emotional. I wrote parts of this blog at various points through the day so there is a huge possibility that some parts won't make sense.  Also I didn't proofread or spell check.  So overlook my goofy errors.

How far along? 32 weeks

Total weight gain/loss: +5, but this is mostly due to swelling

Sleep: While on our "babymoon" I didn't sleep well at all.  I slept better last night in our bed!

Best moment this week:  Deep & I going on our trip!  We visited Bay City, Mackinaw City, Mackinac Island, Petoskey, and Alpena.  We had a wonderful trip!  =)  Seeing Baby BGC in ultrasound at her growth scan.  Last Friday she weighed about 4 lbs and was measuring nearly 2 weeks ahead!  =)

Movement: She hasn't been too active the past few days.  She has had the hiccups a lot lately.

Food cravings: seafood steak...both which are very yucky to puke. =(

Gender: GIRL!!! She is for sure a SHE!!! =)

Belly Button in or out? In

What I miss: Sleeping well, feeling good, having energy, enjoying a bottle...glass of wine.  ;)

What I am looking forward to: Holding this sweet baby girl in my arms! =)

Milestones: I am at 32 weeks which means that if the baby had to be born soon she would most likely be okay. Of course it is better to keep her "baking" as long as possible.

Updates in general: I had an appt last Friday with my perinatologist. We had a long talk about when is the best time to induce.  She said that it is best to keep the baby in as long as possible, but we have to find a happy medium.  We need to make sure that I keep the baby in until she is safe to be delivered, but keeping me healthy and sane at the same time. I have a terrible rash on my belly.  It is very itchy all the time.  My peri thought it could be an allergic reaction to the Lovenox injections I had been giving myself in the belly.  She spoke with my hematologist, and he recommended that I change injection locations.  My peri told him that I had started to do the injections in my legs a few days ago.  My hematologist told my peri to tell me that "you are a genius!"  I got a giggle out of that!  My peri ordered some bloodwork to check bile acids (checking for cholestasis) and a few other tests that the hematologist wanted done. My peri told me that my OB tells her frequently that I look very good and healthy.  She said I do not see a good/healthy person when she looks at me.  I agreed...I do not look good or healthy! I was very frustrated with knowing that my OB said that.  My peri wants me to see a neurologist for my headaches, and she also wanted me to see a GI dr. to talk about having a NJ tube placed.  I spoke with my OB about the NJ tube today, and he said that the NJ tube comes along with other yucky risks...so he said he doesn't recommend me getting it.  My peri also wants me to try the zofran sub-q pump even though zofran causes me to have horrible headaches.  My OB ordered the zofran pump today...so we will see how that all works out.  I have to call tomorrow to let my home health company to arrange for delivery & training of the sub-q pump.  My OB put me on a few new meds to try out.  So we will see how (or if) they work.  My OB gave me some topical cream to put on my tummy for the itchy rash.

I am now doing NST 2 times a week at labor & delivery in the hospital.  Last Thursday I contracted the entire time I was on the monitors.  The on call OB checked me and did the ffn test.  My cervix is closed thick still.

We had a parent meeting for Diya's cheer tonight. We have decided to add a class for her to focus more on her tumbling. So she will have stretch class 3 days a week, tumbling class 1 day a week, and practice Sun & Tues. She is a busy busy chica! She is doing very well with cheer!  =)

While we were taking our "babymoon" my parents, cousin Janice, and (her daughter) my cousin Ketryna came up to help take care of our 5 kiddos.  The kids all had a great time while we were gone.  Ketryna brought her dog up with her, and the kids LOVE Jezzebelle. =)  I miss having doggies for our kids!

While we were in Mackinaw City they had a fireworks display.  Deep & I were walking hand in hand down the main st. watching the fireworks. At that very moment life was absolutely PERFECT...except I missed my kids.  =)

31 Weeks!!!

How far along? 31 weeks

Total weight gain/loss: 0

Sleep: just ok.  Last night I started itching....my tummy started itching very very badly!  I had red raised bumps (hives) on my belly. I took Benadryl and it made me sleepy.  I woke up about 3.5 to 4 hours later itching again.  =(  I have little scratches on my belly where I itched in my sleep. =(  The peri thinks that cholestasis is starting. =(  She said it's a matter of time before things (can potentially) get really bad.

Best moment this week:  ehhh rough week.  I guess seeing Deep finish the girls loft beds!  They love it!

Movement: She moves a lot while I lay down to rest!

Food cravings: sushi and this little deli that sells the most amazing pizza rolls.

Gender: GIRL!!! She is for sure a SHE!!! =)

Belly Button in or out? In

What I miss: Not puking every day. Being able to eat what I want without the fear of how it will be to puke that food. =/

What I am looking forward to: My appt with my Peri & Baby BGC's growth scan.  This weekend we are planning to go on a "Babymoon!!"

Milestones: 31 weeks!!  WOW!!!  Her foot was up near my ribs yesterday.  I finally felt her have very strong hiccups a couple of times this week.

Updates in general: The past week has been rough.  I've spend the majority of the past week in bed. =(  We are going to try doing a steroid taper for the next 2 weeks. We will see...I guess. Diya had stunt camp this past weekend. She enjoyed it! We got her cheer uniform.  She is just loving cheer!  She has practice 2 times a week and a few other classes 4 days a week. She keeps us hopping!  Diya and Max are going to do a sports camp this summer for 4 days at our church.  Kamdyn is going to play volleyball this fall. She's excited!  Devas had an ear infection & yeast infection (diaper area.) Kohen had a sinus infection, and he had a few bug bites.  All of these issues are much better now!  Max was in a special mood all week.  I'm sure hoping this week is better!!

30 Weeks!!!

How far along? 30 weeks

Total weight gain/loss: -4.5 or 5 lbs

Sleep: just ok.

Best moment this week: My hubby coming home from his business trip.  Diya starting competitive cheer practice, spending quality time with my kiddos, and working on planning our "babymoon!" Hearing Baby BGC's heart tones on the doppler.

Movement: She hasn't been quite as active this week.

Food cravings: One evening it was a salmon filet, a big steak, and a loaded baked potato.  Another day it was pasta.  I chose to eat neither...because all of these options are awful to throw up! =(

Gender: GIRL!!! She is for sure a SHE!!! =)

Belly Button in or out? In

What I miss: Feeling well, and not having a hospital admission looming over my head at all times. =( Being able to bend over and pick up things easily.

What I am looking forward to: I have 2 peri appts next week, and the appt next Friday I will get a growth scan! =)  The peri told me yesterday that if my situation doesn't improve that she will order an amnio at 36 weeks and if Baby BGC's lungs are mature they will induce at 36 weeks...which is the end of June!!! WOW!

Milestones: I hit 30 weeks!!!!!  It seems that after I reach 30 weeks I tend to count down the weeks rather than count up...all in my mind/perception of course!  Today my fundus measured 34 weeks.

Updates in general: So the house hunt is officially canceled until late 2012 or early 2013. I feel a ton of pressure has been lifted off my shoulders!  It just wasn't worth the added stress at this point.  I think I am getting an upper respiratory infection.  I feel blah!  Mother's Day was good, but I felt AWFUL that day.  I have not felt the least bit well in a few days.  I've been puking more than usual also.  Yesterday was one of the roughest days I've had in a while.  =(  The kids have been playing outside a lot.  It's getting really warm now.  I can't believe that my kids only have a few more weeks of school!  Oh in good news...Kamdyn passed her 5th grade advancement test.  She will take another one in the next week or so, and if she passes it then she will be placed in an advanced type of class for 5th grade! YAY!  Go K! Deep is getting worked up because the baby's d-day is drawing near!  He is feeling the pressure...rather him than me!! =)  Diya is super busy between school & cheer!  She is doing wonderful with cheer!  She learned to do a back walk-over last week!  She makes me smile!

29 Weeks!!

How far along? 29 weeks

Total weight gain/loss: -3 lbs

Sleep: just ok.

Best moment this week: Getting out of the hospital on Saturday afternoon.  I got out of the hospital about 1 hour before Diya had to be at the church for her First Holy Communion! =)  Seeing Baby BGC on ultrasound!! She is getting so big!  =)  The baby is measuring up to 2 weeks ahead! The perinatologist said she is a "hefty baby!" given all that has happened in this pregnancy!  Her speculated weight according to ultrasound was 2 lbs 12 oz!

Movement: Yes, she is a busy busy bee these days!

 Food cravings: Nothing. =(

Gender: GIRL!!! She is for sure a SHE!!! =)

Belly Button in or out? In

What I miss: Feeling well. =/

What I am looking forward to: I am supposed to get a growth scan in a couple of weeks. I'm excited for that!

Milestones: I'm home, and I have no iv/picc line!  It's the first time since Jan that I've been "line free!"

Updates in general: I stayed in the hospital for 5 days.  It was a long 5 days filled with IVs, blood thinners, antibiotics, lots of consults with specialty doctors, puking, beeping iv pumps, blood draws that caused huge bruises, etc. It was a rough stay.  I am now on blood thinners until 6 weeks postpartum.  My arms are very bruised from blood draws, ivs, and shots of blood thinners.  I have to see a perinatologist & my normal ob every week for the next month. We are going to start a Sub-Q pump with reglan this week.  All my meds got changed while in the hospital.  I am now doing a big dose of Benadryl and will be starting Reglan.  I am also taking a med for reflux.  So far no major changes in how I feel. The peri told me that if I continue to be this sick she will induce at 37 weeks!  That means I have 8 weeks to go!!!!!  WOW!  Deep has started to go into panic mode needing to get ready for Baby BGC!  I'm sure it will hit me in the next few weeks! =)  Next week I will be 30 weeks!!!!!  YAYYYY! =)

28 weeks!

How far along? 28 weeks

Total weight gain/loss: I appeared to gain 7 lbs in 8 days, but it's really water retention & another health issue.

Sleep: just ok.

Best moment this week: Having Kamdyn and Diya feel Baby BGC move, and using the Doppler so they could hear her heartbeat. :). They were so excited about both. I also called my mom and dad & my gram so they could hear her heartbeat. My mom and gram cried. My dad commented how strong her heartbeat was.

Movement: Yep, I'm starting to feel her move in the top and bottom of my belly. She usually stays in my left side.

Food cravings: Speedway's pizza and orange juice

Gender: GIRL!!! Well at least I hope she is still a she! I feel like the one thing I can control in this pregnancy is buying cutesy little girl clothes, and let me tell you she is VERY well stocked in cutesy little clothes. One thing is for sure...I LOVEEEEEEEE butt ruffles!!! =)

Belly Button in or out? In What I miss: Life without an IV. Showering without having to have someone prep my line. Not having big bruises from blood draws and IV. Not seeing multiple doctors each week.

What I am looking forward to: My next fun ultrasound. I need to schedule it soon. Holding this little diva in my arms. Sharing her first photos and her

Milestones: I'm in my 3rd trimester now!!! Yay! Only 2 weeks until I can start the 10 week countdown! Baby is measuring 30.5 weeks by fundus. :)

Updates in general: I developed a blood clot in my picc line over the weekend. I was in the ER on Sunday afternoon to have it taken care of. Monday (yesterday) when my home nurse visited she wasn't happy with how my arm looked. So I had to see the picc team and my ob today. I had an ultrasound of my left arm where the picc line was, and it showed a small blood clot at the site of insertion of my line. My ob referred me to an internist for picc line/ cellulitis/ blood clot treatment. The internist told me to go to the ER for picc removal, and I'd be admitted so all my doctors could coordinate a care plan for me. So I'm in the ER ow waiting to get moved to labor and delivery. I had my picc line removed, and I'm on an IV now. I'm getting blood thinner and antibiotics through the IV.

27 weeks!!!

How far along? 27 weeks

Total weight gain/loss: lost close to 30 lbs. I lost another 1/2 a lb

Sleep: ehhh ok...not my best or worst week of sleep.  I got lots of rest being in the hospital.

Best moment this week: Hearing Baby BCG's heartbeat at the hospital. She was not a big fan of the hospital monitors. She would wiggle and move a lot to get away from them. Getting to come home after a 4 day hospital stay, and celebrate Diya's 8th birthday which was the day after I was released! =)

Movement: Yep, she would get very active when the monitors were on my tum.

Food cravings: Gas station hot dogs with ketchup & onions & iced coffee

Gender: GIRL!!! Well at least I hope she is still a she! I feel like the one thing I can control in this pregnancy is buying cutesy little girl clothes, and let me tell you she is VERY well stocked in cutesy little clothes. One thing is for sure...I LOVEEEEEEEE butt ruffles!!! =)

Belly Button in or out? In

What I miss: Feeling good. =( Still puking all the time. =( Being able to function without having an IV line/fluids running through my body.

What I am looking forward to: My next fun ultrasound. I need to schedule it soon.

Milestones: being almost to my 3rd trimester!

Updates in general: I spent 4 days in the hospital again this past week. I had a very very early staph infection in my picc line. It got pulled on Wed. night, and cultures were done. It grew staph. My blood cultures did not grow staph...YAY! So I had another picc placed on Saturday.

We tried to put in an offer on a perfect house. Unfortunately there are some hold ups with the short sale requirements for this house...essentially in order to put in an offer we had to sign a paper saying that we would pay an undisclosed amount to a 3rd party upon closing. Our realtor's legal team said NO WAY! This $ is due (cash) at closing, is not able to be financed, and we have no idea the amount (our realtor said could be $5 or $50,000.) UGH! So long story short we are still searching! OY! I hope and pray something comes up for sale in this area soon!!

Also I had 2 dr appts today. Everything was ok at my ob...nothing big. Then I saw the rheumatoid dr. I wasn't fond of him. Kinda put off actually. I see both again in 2 weeks. I will update more on that later.

26 WEEKS!!!!

How far along? 26 weeks...YAY!!

Total weight gain/loss: lost close to 30 lbs. I've lost about 4 lbs in the past 2 weeks.

Sleep: I'm not sleeping well. I have been waking up VERY sick about 3-3:30 AM.

Best moment this week: Baby BGC has become a very active little girl in the past week! Her movements are much bigger now. They can be felt from the outside!

Movement: LOTS! This little girl love my left side. She stays on my left most of the time. She is definitely starting to move up in my tummy!

Food cravings: Gas station hot dogs with ketchup & onions & Bagger Dave's french fries

Milestones: feeling movement, starting to get a bit of a baby bump now.

Updates in general: I'm doing TPN with lipids 4 days a week now. So far I have gotten VERY sick from it. =( We are still house searching. We haven't found THE ABSOLUTE PERFECT house yet. I keep praying that God will lead us to THE PERFECT HOUSE! Took Devas to the pedi today. He has a "nasty" ear infection and sinus infection. This explains the LONG nights we've had lately. He starts his antibiotic today so hopefully he will be on the mend very soon!

decisions....decisions

This house hunt is officially making me C*R*A*Z*Y!!!

We have the mortgage stuff all ready to go...we just need to find THE house!

First we had realtor issues. I fired our first realtor. Our new realtor is much better. =)

Then we wanted to see 3 houses in our immediate area, but the houses were already contingent (meaning seller already accepted an offer.) We spoke with our realtor, and they told us that this area is booming. Also it is a sellers market here. There is no negotiating at all. She had a client offer 290 on a house listed at 295. They had 12 other offers for the full amount.

We decided to expand our search area. We found a very nice house that we LOVE! 2 big issues with it...it's a short sale and it's further away from all of our activities, church, etc.

Yesterday we saw a very nice house that's a foreclosure. It was nice, but just not as nice as the first one. However, it was closer and foreclosures are not supposed to be as hard to work with.

We feel pressured to make a decision because the houses are selling so fast. The houses in the home sub that we would love to live in sold in 3-5 days. So on one hand I hate to wait knowing we LOVE the house, but I'd love to stay open/available so if a house comes up in this area we can put an offer in right away.

So now we are in this decision making limbo area. I'm truly stumped! OY!

*life update *

I know it has been a while since I've updated. I think about every day that I need to write in my blog, but usually I have so much depressing stuff going on that I get sad just thinking about it. I will update on everyone....

So here we gooooooooooooooo (in the words of Toy Story)....

I spent 4 days in the hospital due to strep throat. Here's how that week went...Tuesday late night I noticed my throat was itchy and hurt a bit. By 1:30 AM Wed I was running a fever of 101. I took some meds and went back to bed. At 6 I woke up with a 103 fever. Deep made me a Dr. appt for 4 PM. I went to my Dr. appt and he sent me straight to the ER. I got admitted to L&D for 4 days. They had to speculate that my PIC line was infected due to the high fevers. It was a rough hospital stay. Thursday I was in so much pain they did a spinal tap. My head started hurting RIGHT after they did this procedure. Thankfully my lab results from the spinal tap were negative. However the spinal headache was enough to nearly push me over the edge. My strep culture results came in on Friday. I had strep throat. Antibiotics were started and by Saturday I fell well enough to go home. Tuesday I had an OB appt. I gained 3 lbs! My head was hurting so badly that my OB scheduled a 2nd spinal tap to do a blood patch. I went that afternoon for the blood patch. They do a spinal tap and then put your blood in to patch the potential leak of CSF. I had the spinal placed, and then they had to draw 20 ml of blood. They stuck me 3-4 times and got nothing. The Dr. came around to help. They got a vein in my hand and to get enough blood they wrapped their hands around my arm and "pushed" the blood down toward my hand. They got 18 ml of blood. The Dr. put it in my back, and they laid me down quickly. They kept asking if my head felt better. Honestly I couldn't tell...I was in a lot of pain in my hips/shoulders. By the time I stood up I knew my headache was better! THANK GOD!!

My mom came and stayed with us from Thurs-Tues. She came up while I was in the hospital, and stayed until Tuesday. The day after she went home my cousin came up to stay with us for a week, and then she came up and stayed 2 weeks with us. =)

My most recent issue has been the nodules on my legs. I ended up in the ER a few weeks ago for these bumps. The ER thought it was MRSA. They started me on antibiotics at the hospital. I saw my PCP the next day. He had a second opinion of what the nodules were. He did a skin punch biopsy and some bloodwork. He wanted me to see a dermatologist. The dermatologist had a 3rd opinion. I was given a steroid shot at the dermatologist office. It did nothing. I saw my PCP the next week. He gave me a 2nd (stronger) steroid shot, and again nothing! So now I am waiting to see a rheumatologist on April 23. My PCP thinks that I have a rheumatoid or autoimmune issue going on. My bloodwork also indicates I could have a rheumatoid issue. =/

My bloodwork also showed that I am malnourished. Which wasn't a huge surprise because I have been SICK SICK SICK for almost 4 months! So the recommendation was made to start me on TPN. I got my OB approval, nutritionist approval, and home health care pharmacist approval...I thought yay I am getting somewhere. HA the joke is on me! So far the TPN has made me soooooooooooooo sick! I lost even more weight! I was hardly able to get out of bed. It has been rough.

I am 25 weeks pregnant! The baby is getting quite active! A few days ago I felt her hiccuping! <3 Only 3 weeks until my last (VERY LAST EVER!!) trimester starts! Deep and I had already decided that 6 is enough for us! Then this pregnancy has been VERY VERY VERY rough on me. I can't go through this ever again. Even my OB said I shouldn't get pregnant again.

So in other VERY exciting news....we have our preapproval in hand for a mortgage!!! YAYYYYYYY!!! The house hunt has been much less exciting. The area where we live currently is the area we'd like to stay. There are hardly any houses for sale in this area. Once they are listed they sell in 3 days, and it is a sellers market in this area. NO negotiation on price at all. OY!

So now I'm just kinda hanging out waiting to see how things go on both my health & the house hunt!

Deep is super busy all the time...work, travel, school, handling new house purchase stuff, etc. He has his final for his class next week. We are hoping and praying that it goes smoothly for him! =) He had a great article posted in the Indiana Tech alumni publication. Here is the link to that publication: (go to view page or scroll to page 32)

http://indianatech.edu/alumni/Documents/trends/2012-Spring.pdf

He has a full page photo! The article is great! It is inspirational! What can I say I am one proud wife!! =) I am so truly blessed to have this amazing man in my life! =)

Kamdyn seems to be struggling with school a bit this year. She is in an awkward phase right now. She's growing so super fast we can't keep shoes to fit her, and I can't buy her clothes without her trying them on as she seems to have skipped sizes. Her teacher told me that she is kind of a needy kid who has a hard time with the independence of "pre-middle school" school. (they started changing classes for subjects this year, and they are required to be much more responsible for themselves (work, organization, supplies, etc.) Her teacher also told me that she is hopeful it will "click" for her one day soon, and when it "clicks" in this age group they seem to "soar!" I'm hopeful!

Diya is a superstar!! =) She just finished her 2nd round of gymnastics, and she is soooo super bored with it! It isn't fast paced enough for her. So we have decided to sign her up for competitive cheer/dance. She is so excited! In school she is doing well. She is one lazy kid when it comes to things we ask of her. She will try to get someone to "help" (i.e.do her homework for her) any chance she gets. Diya is a social butterfly. She knows/recognizes someone nearly everywhere we go.

Max is doing great! Aside from his occasional snarky behavior, he seems to be doing wonderful! He is going to play flag football this spring. He has his first practice 4/12/12. He loves kindergarten, and has a few friends that he talks about frequently. He had his first sleepover with one of his friends a few weeks ago. He had a great time! =)

Kohen is a busy little bee! He LOVES preschool! =) He has found a new interest...my iPad! He plays my ipad all day long...well until the battery dies. Then we plug it in so he can play it again asap! We have to take it with us everywhere we go. It is the only (calm) way we can get him to let us buckle him in his carseat. OY! He is learning a lot from it though...so it's ok in the end...I guess! =) Kohen LOVESSSS Thomas the Train! He loves watching train videos on YouTube, and let me tell you he can bring up youtube on his own & find the train videos! Kohen went to the dr. on 4/9/12. He weighed 29.6 lbs and was 36 1/2 inches tall! Kohen is growing! =)

Devas is starting to talk! He can repeat lots of sounds/words. He says "tank (long pause) dew" which means thank you. It's too cute! He is 18 months old now. Devas is super busy and always getting into some kind of mischief. Oy he keeps us busy! He can climb super fast! He always doing something goofy. He loves to play outside. He will push and shove to be the first out the door. Devas LOVES to give kisses. He even has a cute little "kissy face!" It's super cute. He will put his hands on your cheeks and turn your head his way so he can give kisses. He's such a lovey little guy! =)

So that is our update....hopefully soon we will have some exciting house news, and of course I would love to start feeling better. Time will tell. Please remember us in your prayers as we go through this crazy time in our life.

We have also (kind of) started a dog hunt. We promised Max a long time ago that once we have our own house we would get a dog. He really wants a big dog, and I am so in love with Goldendoodles. So we have been browsing looking for Goldendoodles. I can't wait to be in our house so we can fulfill his wish, and get the kids a dog! =)

Thanks for catching up on us! =)

In the hospital

I will write out the whole story soon. For now I wanted to write down a few details...

Today 3/10/12 (about 1 hour before I was released from hospital), Baby BGC was very active. After all that we had been through this week with Dr. appts and spending 4 days in L&D...the little princess kicked very hard. So I had Deep place his hand on my belly, and she moved/kicked his hand 2 times. =)

The excitement of an HG-ers day!

So yesterday I get a croissant sandwich (breakfast sausage, eggs, cheese) that I've been craving for years...ok so really only about a month. I eat 2/3 of it...and make my hubby drop me off at Target so I can puke! BLAH!

Today I ate & puked at one of my all time favorite restaurants! Sad! =( I was thinking...have you seen that Fiber 1 commercial where the hubby says "Fiber makes me sad!" I often feel that way about food in general!

So my most exciting part of today....I bet you are on pins and needles to find out! ;) I ordered myself a 2nd IV pole. This way I can have 1 upstairs and 1 downstairs! YAYAYAY!!! LOL

My nurse comes tomorrow to change my dressing. I see my dr. again in just a bit under 2 weeks.

Feeling down...

So the dreaded HG saga continues on....

I'm loosing hope that I will EVER feel better.

I'm feeling so frustrated, down, depressed, sad, etc.

I just want to be "normal!" I want to eat & enjoy food. I am still puking nearly everything that enters my mouth. UGH! I want to nourish my body & Baby BGC without the use of PICC lines, needles, medicine. I want to enjoy time out watching my kids have fun & celebrating their victories. I want this pregnancy, my very last pregnancy EVER to be pleasant & enjoyable...you know the perfect pregnancy with a cute little belly, lots of little kicks and movements from baby, pleasant dr. appts where you hear the heartbeat & learning more about your baby, etc.

Yeah I realize I'm complaining. I figure I'm allowed to. I've never felt so awful in my entire life. Each day I feel like I got hit by a bus! I feel defeated. The HG wins...I'm waving my white flag! =(

It's a.......

I had my fun ultrasound today. I told the ultrasound tech that we were really hoping for a girl. She put the probe on my tummy and a few minutes later she said "It looks like you got your wish! It's a GIRL!!!!" I cried when she said that! YAY! We are having a GIRL!!!! =)

I wanted to add in here....we are thrilled to have a healthy little one regardless of the baby's gender. We would have been super excited to have a boy also. The reason we were hoping for a girl to even up the boys/girls in our family. =)

OB appt & ultrasound

Monday I had an OB appt & an ultrasound! I was sooooo excited thinking that we may be able to see the gender of the baby giving that I am 17 weeks, and Baby BGC is measuring about a week ahead. The baby was so cute...S/he waved at us. It was precious! The baby still measured about a week ahead. Baby BCG weighed about 8 oz. We listened the the heartbeat. Baby BCG's heart was beating at 146 bpm. The tech was not the nicest. =( She wanted NOTHING to do with giving us a quick peek.

After my ultrasound I saw the Dr. I lost 1.5 lbs and my bp was 110/62. Urine was "better" this week. The Dr. came in my room and chatted with me about what was going on. He said to stick with the regimen we are going with now. He seemed very doubtful that I will feel somewhat normal through this pregnancy. =( I will see the Dr. in 4 weeks.

Laundry...

I just wanted to make a quick note of this...as it doesn't happen nearly often enough! It is 2:29 AM, and I am just now headed to bed. Why am I up so late you ask...because I just folded 276...yes two hundred & seventy six pairs of socks!! *whew* I also did 4 or 5 loads of laundry to break up the monotony of folding the socks!

Ok now I am off to bed! We have an early morning, and currently I have at least 2 sick kids. OY!! Oh well, at least the kids will have clean socks to wear to the doctor! ;)

Intelligender Gender Prediction Test

So as you all know we are expecting our 6th baby in July. The baby's nickname is Bubble-Guppy-Cupcake (BCG from here on out!) With the majority (4) of my pregnancies I have found out the gender before birth by ultrasound. We choose to not find out until birth with 1 of our kids. It was an amazing experience to wait until birth. I obviously had a lot more patience then than I do now! Now I can't wait to find out if we will have ribbons & bows or cars & trains.

I had the opportunity to try and review the Intelligender Gender Predictor Test. Here is a little bit of information taken from Intelligender's website.

"IntelliGender's Gender Prediction Test™ is a simple urine analysis similar to the pregnancy test you took a few weeks ago. It uses first morning urine and a proprietary mix of chemicals which reacts with a combination of hormones to indicate the gender of your baby. It can be performed as early as 10 weeks of pregnancy (six weeks from the first day of the missed period). It is an easy test to perform and provides quick results in-home so the news can be shared right away.

IntelliGender reminds all pregnant moms that seeing an obstetrician early in the pregnancy is critical for the health of the mother and the baby and should follow the advice of their physician.

You simply collect first morning urine and insert into the test vessel. Swirl rapidly in a circular motion, place the test on a flat white surface undisturbed for minutes."

So my girls & I got up super early on Sunday, January 15 to try out the Intelligender Test. I was 12 weeks & 6 days pregnant at the time.

I opened the box and examined all the contents in the Intelligender box, and we read the directions.

Next I collected my urine in the syringe and put it in the Intelligender test container. I swirled the urine in the test container for 10 seconds, I set a timer for 5 minutes, and I left the room.

When the timer went off my girls and I ran into the bathroom to examine the Intelligender test.

This is what we found upon checking out Intelligener test. It looks like the Thakur Family's new addition may be a new little boy according to Intelligender.

Kamdyn & Diya's Dr. appt today

Both girls were seen by their pediatrician today. Kamdyn weighed 76.6 & Diya weighed 47.6 lbs.

Diya was seen for fluid in her ears & a sinus infection. Kamdyn was seen because she has been complaining that her lungs hurt & it's hard to catch her breath when/after she has been running.

Diya got a RX for antibiotic.

Kamdyn ran in place for about 10 minutes. The nurse did a pulmonary function test on her. She was at 83%. So she will use an inhaler 10 minutes before & after she is physically active.

Their Dr. told me that I look tired (really meaning you look like crap...just in a PC way.) I told her that I have HG, and she told the kids to take care of me and help me out at home.

I'm sure glad tomorrow is FRIDAY!!! YAY! Only 4 more days until my big ultrasound!!!

Wednesday, February 8, 2012

Catch up...

I'm way behind. I haven't done the blog dare in over a week. I haven't really done much of anything for the past week. I've been feeling VERY bad!

Deep traveled to Canada on the 26 & 27. He was home for the weekend, and then Monday he left for California until Friday. My parents visited during this time, and let me tell you it was WONDERFUL to have them here. I am so thankful!

Kids are all doing well. Typical kid struggles with them, but nothing we can't handle.

Deep is doing well. Enjoyed his trips. Said Cali was nice. He was super busy while there so he didn't have much down time to enjoy the area.

I on the other hand...haven't been fairing too well. Still on my picc line & IV hydration (w/meds & multivitamin) every day. I've been vomiting more than I had been.

I had an ob appt yesterday. I lost 2.5 lbs (in 2 weeks..which is better than previous weeks of losing 4 lbs in 6 days.) BP was 112/70. We heard BCG's heartbeat with a doppler. Dr. said to keep doing what we are doing. I asked about an ultrasound. Dr said how about next week! YAY! So hopefully BCG will cooperate next Monday, and we can see gender! =) I am excited!

That's all the big news for the time being. I will try to get caught up..soon!

OY! Update...Feb 1

The BIG news is that I am 15 weeks pregnant! I feel like time is flying by in general...but every day seems to last forever. If that makes any sense...

I am having a really bad day. I thought I felt a bit better for a few days, but today I am right back to AWFUL! I haven't eaten much until a bit ago. I tried cheese & Ritz crackers as my OB nurse instructed me to...it was a NO GO! Badddd news for Mama's belly! I had gained a couple of pounds, but I've lost it all again. The good news is I'm getting skinnier...just not in a healthy way. I'm still getting 3 liters of LR, meds, & vitamins daily. That is the only thing keeping me going! Less than 2 weeks until that "magical 17th week) that my OB keeps talking about. I know Diya's preg wasn't as bad as this one, but with her I was very sick until the day she was born. So I'm nervous to see if I will be a bit luckier this go around. In other BIG NEWS....I go Feb. 18 to a "fun ultrasound" place to find out if our little munchkin is a boy or girl! So far most people say Girl. Any guesses? Either way this baby will have a K (first) J (middle) name. Which brings up a funny story. When I was pregnant with Max I was on an email group for ladies that were TTC (trying to conceive). The girls had given the wee baby the nickname Max...before knowing if he was a he. So all along he was called Baby Max. A friend from the email group tried to come up with a K or D name that had Max in it...you will never guess one of the options thrown out....Klymaxx...isn't that GREAT!! I laugh every time I think of that story!

In other news, Kamdyn had her follow up orthodontist appt today. This ortho is growing on me. I wasn't sure I liked him at first, but today showed me he isn't just out to get my $$$. I have met with other orthos...each of them wanted me to schedule an appt that day to get the braces on. I choose this office because it was referred to us by a friend, and truly their office is REALLY cool...it's the kid in me. ;) We went in 3 weeks ago for her initial appt. They did xrays & photos of her teeth. Today we were supposed to go over a treatment plan & $$$. The ortho completely surprised me and said that he wants to save Kamdyn time & pain and save me money. He wants to wait until she looses 3 more baby teeth and her adult start to grow in before he puts braces on. That way she will only need 1 set (phase) of braces. He said it is our choice if we want wait for her to loose the teeth naturally or if we wanted her dentist to pull them. He was going to send a referral to the dentist just in case we decided to have them pulled. He said take all the time we need...that it isn't a big rush. I am not sure which route we will take. The kids need to go in for a teeth cleaning...so I think I will talk to her dentist about it then. He is very honest with me so I trust his opinion.

Diya is (for the most part) doing well with her new gluten/wheat free diet. She did share with my mom that she hates her life because she isn't able to eat normal anymore. That was a few days ago. I'm really trying to get her some products that she likes that are gluten free. So far we've found some chocolate cookies, chocolate covered pretzels, mac n' cheese (her favorite food ever!), bagels, and cheesy poofs. The cheesy poofs are REALLY good!!! She scarfed them down quickly. Most of these products we have bought at Meijer! They have an AMAZING gluten free selection! She has chicken nuggets, donuts, and a few other products to try. Our other big gluten free stores are Trader Joes & Whole Foods. Meijer & Whole Foods definitely have the better selections.

My parents have been here for almost a week. Deep had to travel to Canada last week, and he is in California this week. I am SOOOOOOOOOO INCREDIBLY THANKFUL that my parents were able to come & help me. I have pretty much stayed in bed the entire time they have been here. It has been such a relief to have daily help. =) Deep will be home Friday.

Last night I was able to take Kamdyn out for a bit. We grabbed dinner & then went to a High School girls basketball game. It was a Catholic High School in Livonia named Ladywood. It's an all girls school. Kamdyn had fun! She got a free tshirt & hot dog, chips & soda. It was nice to spend some quality time with Kamdyn.

YAY! I'm caught up! YAY!!

Today's blog prompt is.....An annoying myth or wives-tale.

Right now in my life it is that I should try crackers, ginger ale, broth, etc. for my "morning sickness." I wish that some of these helped me. They just don't though. =(

My Grandparent's house...

My Grandma's (maternal) house was always warm and cozy. Anyone was welcome at all times. It was full of love, patience, and baked goodies. My Gram loved to crochet & do crafty work. So she showed me lots of fun stuff. =) I am thankful to have both of my Grandmas here with me still! I love them! =)

Not really sure...my mind isn't very creative right now. I honestly can't even think of anything exciting for this.

The most vivid dream...

I remember 2...one when I was a kid. I was being chased all around a dept. store. The person chasing me caught me and I was thrashing & kicking the person. I kicked something hard and hurt my foot!

The 2nd was about a year ago. I dreamed my hubs was cheating on me. It was so vivid and hurt me so badly. =(

2 OB appts & an ultrasound!

Yesterday I met with a new OB. His office staff was ok. I had an ultrasound first. Baby Bubble-Guppy-Cupcake (BGC) is measuring a bit over a week ahead! YAY! This Dr. was referred through the HG website, but honestly they didn't seem to have a lot of knowledge on HG. I lost more weight. Surprise...I haven't kept any food down in days! We spoke about HG, picc, & meds. He told me sometimes HG leads to pancreatitis. OY! He said it would be best to get me off the picc....OK. We spoke about general pregnancy/delivery for a bit. He doesn't deliver at the hospital I would like to deliver at. So I'm not sure about him.

Today I had an appt at my old OB. I lost 4 lbs in 6 days. The dr & nurse weren't overly happy. I was warned that if I keep loosing I will be getting a central line to get more nutrients delivered to myself & BGC. He is changing my meds around a bit...which means adding more Zofran. The Dr. found BGC's heartbeat right away with doppler.

So I have appts. to go back to both Drs. in 2 weeks. Let's see how the next 2 weeks go....

OB appt & NT ultrasound

Yesterday I had an OB appt so that we could get my IV meds ordered again. I gained 1/2 a lb, and my Dr. made a huge deal about it! I think it's just from IV fluid, but what do I know?!? My urine was negative, and my BP was 100/60. The dr. tried to hear the baby's heart via doppler. He found the hb right away last week, but this week he couldn't find it. I was a bit worried, but knew I had an ultrasound in the afternoon. I told the dr. how bad I was feeling since all my meds were taken away. So the Dr. ordered 3 liters of lactated ringers (LR), first one with phenergan, 2nd with multivitamins & zofran, & the 3rd with phenergan. Today is my first day to try this regimen. I have thrown up twice today. So we shall see where this goes....

Yesterday I had the NT scan/ultrasound done. The baby was wiggling around. S/he measured 77 mm from crown to rump. S/he measured 14 weeks...almost a full week ahead. The measurement for the NT was 1.9...so a healthy measurement. The baby's hear rate was 156. The ultrasound tech said everything looked good! =) We will get results in about a week.

Snow days...

I wish! HAHA Here in Michigan they hardly ever cancel school for snow days. I think it was closed 1 day in 09-10 school years and 2 or 3 days in 10-11 school year. So far none this year.

I would love to have a huge snow. I hate the ground being all soggy and muddy! I also wouldn't mind the kids being home for a snow day every now and again.

I wish we would have had snow for Christmas!

An impactful book in my life.

My answer to this prompt is super easy! It is Ina May's Guide to Childbirth! I absolutely adore Ina May!

Also the lady that trained me to be a Birth Doula...she has a book called The Doula Business Guide; Creating a Successful MotherBaby Business by Patty Brennan. You can find out more info about Patty HERE. She offers some amazing classes in the Ann Arbor area.

I learned a lot about childbirth from Ina May's book...this having given birth 5 times myself. I plan to make Baby Bubble-Guppy-Cupcake's birth much different. I'd love a homebirth, but we will see where we are when I am due.

"The first time I saw..."

The first time I saw Kamdyn on ultrasound was absolutely amazing!

I had found out I was pregnant about 6 weeks earlier. I had an early ultrasound and nothing was seen. (this happened with 2 previous pregnancies. I went on to miscarry both times.) The Dr. office ordered blood hcg tests. Both tests decreased in number. I was told I would miscarry this pregnancy also.

I went on with life the best I could. I blocked out everything about pregnancy/babies, etc out of my mind. I was done.

The first week of December I got VERY sick. By the weekend I was so extremely ill that I couldn't keep water down. I went to the ER. They asked if I could be pregnant. I told them no...I had just had a miscarriage. They did a blood test and my hcg was 36,000! I went for an ultrasound. I was 10.5 weeks pregnant!!!! WOAH. It was amazing to see the little baby on the screen. She was wiggling around. AMAZING!! I got an ultrasound picture. I laid it on my belly. Deep had ran home just before the ultrasound...not knowing that I was pregnant! When he returned he asked what was on my belly. I told him the first picture of our baby. We both got tears in our eyes. It was an amazing moment! =)

"I convinced my children to.."

Today I convinced my children to CLEAN THEIR ROOMS!!!! YAY! I had been trying to get them to clean their rooms for a few days. Thankfully they listened!

Tonight Kamdyn has a performance at a local high school for MLK Jr. Day. Her school choir is singing. She is very excited! =) So I wanted their rooms clean & homework done before we had to be there. The girls also took showers...without any help! YAY. Small little victories! =)

frusturated again!

I had my PICC line placed on Friday. This was a big relief! Almost seen as a miracle in my eyes! So getting IV fluids is much easier now! *whew* So I will count this as 2 steps forward....

Now I only took 1 step back this time...because I think I can find a way to deal with this issue. My OB has decided that I am ONLY to get fluids...no meds or vitamins in my IV. I spoke with the nurse at his office, and she told me that he insisted that I since I said they didn't help me why would he waste his time prescribing the meds/vitamins. Sad thing is I told him in his office last Monday that I not only NEED the phenergan, but that when zofran is added to phenergan I feel so much better!!! When I have the mutlivitamin in my IV I feel better longer after the IV is done. So where is he getting that the meds don't help me?!?

The OB's nurse told me that I am going to have to come in and talk to the Dr. myself because she feels like she is playing quarterback between the Dr. & I and she isn't qualified to play QB. UGH. So I was transferred to the receptionist to schedule an appt. They only had 1 appt available this entire week. It was at a time I couldn't go in. So I asked if I can just speak with the Dr. on the phone. The receptionist told me that he is so backed up with stuff that she doubted he would have a chance to call me. I hung up the phone, and burst into tears...UGH.

I have decided that I've had enough with this dr! I can't take this anymore. I'm sick...I'm loosing weight....I feel like crud all the time...I can hardly keep anything down. What about this don't they understand??

So I made an appt with a new OB in the area that was listed on the reference area of www.helpher.org The nurse I spoke with on the phone said they deal with HG often. So that is hopeful for me! I am keeping my fingers crossed and saying prayers that this new Dr. takes me serious!

Why I don't like a certain cartoon character.

OY...not quite sure on this one. I think Caillou is very annoying, but my kids LOVE the show. I can't really think of 1 character that makes me crazy. I think watching too much of one show is annoying though. Small doses is the answer to that! =)

Blog Dare 14

I can't believe my kids like...

{This could be a food, beverage, toy, show, music...}

Food- McDonalds chicken nuggets or a cheeseburger and fries. Kamdyn loves taco casserole.

Beverage- all of them prefer sprite except Kamdyn. She prefers root beer

Toy- ehhh I'm not really sure on this.

Show- Girls like Nick & Disney shows. Max is in between ages..so depending on which other kids he's around he will watch whatever they watch. The little boys prefer Nick Jr. or Sprout.

Music- littles like kids music (Wiggles, nursery rhymes, etc), bigger kids like hip hop/dance music.

Color- Kamdyn's favorite color is yellow. Diya's favorite color is green. Max's favorite color is blue.

Small Victory!

Yesterday I had my PICC line places. It was a battle to get either a PICC or midline. Finally my home health care & OB office worked together, and I got the PICC! YAY! Thankfully it was a fairly easy process. The nurse that put it in was super super nice! The catheter wanted to go the wrong way a couple of times so she kept repositioning me, and after working for a bit she got it in the right place! I am so relieved to have it! I have been able to start my IV hydration w/ meds & multivitamins quite easily.

So for now I'm getting 3 liters of fluid each day...phenergan in the bags & vitamins 1 time a day!

OFFICIAL Announcement!

Yes, I am pregnant! I am due July 23. Yes this is baby #6. Yes we are happy! This munchkin was a BIG HUGE surprise, but we are just thrilled!

Here is our little "Bubble-Guppy-Cupcake!"

I am 12 weeks & 4 days along. I was nauseated before I even got a + test. At 8 weeks I went downhill quickly. I have lost 5-6 % of my body weight. I am very nauseated all the time. I was diagnosed with hyperemesis gravidarum. I have been getting IV hydration at home. Today I go to get a PICC line placed. I'm hoping this will help, and I will start feeling better.

Anyway, this is our big news! I have an ultrasound on Jan 18 for the NT. I will NOT be having the penta screen...which gave me a false positive for trisomy 18 with Devas's pregnancy. Then around mid/late Feb I will have an ultrasound to determine gender.

By the way...we know what causes babies, and no we don't care to hear your opinion of OUR LIFE! =)

Diya's & Kamdyn's appts today

Diya spiked a fever of 102 last night. So she stayed home from school today. I took her to see her pediatrician. Her BP was 117/68. Her temp was normal. Her lungs were good. Her lymph nodes were swollen...especially the ones by her ears. She had a lot of fluid in her left ear. Her right ear was ok. So she was working on getting an ear infection. BLAH! She was put on zithromax.

After her appt we went to Meijer to do some gluten free shopping. I spent $100 on gluten free stuff. It's super expensive! I got her stuff to make cupcakes & brownies. She is excited about that!

Kamdyn had her first orthodontist appt today. She got measurements, photos, and xrays today. We will go back in 3 weeks then back a few days later...then she will get her braces. She was very nervous today. The orthodontist's office is fun! It's very upbeat. They even have an ice cream machine for the kids! Kamdyn enjoyed the ice cream after her appt.

We had a busy day!

HG treatment update

I spoke with the pharmacist who preps my IV hydration & meds. He found out there is a nurse through the agency I'm using that does midlines!!! YAY! Today I called my OB's office and asked them to send over the orders so I can have the midline placed. They are going to coordinate with the agency to get it figured out!

Yesterday evening my IV blew so I called my nurse because I had only had 1 bag of fluids, and I needed the IV replaced so I could get the remaining liters. A different nurse came out...ironically it was the nurse trained to do the midlines!!! I talked to her about the midline. She told me could have placed the midline yesterday if she had an order from the dr. UGH!

Anyway hopefully by the end of the week we will have something figured out. Otherwise, I am going to be getting peripheral IVs every other day for at least the next few weeks. OY!

Tuesday's blog prompt is "A favorite retro toy."

Truthfully I don't remember much about the toys I played with except my baby dolls. I had quite a few Cabbage Patch Kids. Lets see if can recall their names...

Christine Elise
Gerta Tay
Dean Bromwell
Alberta Fay

I had a few more, but I forget their names.

I loved my CPKs! =)

I also remember Teddy Ruxpin & Kid Sister doll. I cut off Kid Sister's hair! Anyone remember the "My Buddy & Kid Sister" song they had on the commercial. I loved that song.

beyond frusturated

My home health nurse was just here. I told her about the midline that I was supposed to get Friday if I am hydrated enough. She asked if my OB's office was scheduling it or if their office was. I called my OB's office, and my hhc spoke with the OB nurse. Then my hhc nurse called her office. She told me that the midline idea was a no-go because her office suggested it but they have no one certified to place the midline. UGH! My OB's nurse was not so friendly with me so I hate to call her back to figure this out. =(

Kamdyn is getting braces!!

We go tomorrow for fittings, molds, etc. Then we will go back 3 weeks later for a final appt to go over everything. Then a week later she will have her braces put on! So in a month Kamdyn will have braces!

Today Kamdyn & Diya go to the dentist. Diya goes to finish a filling, and Kamdyn goes to have a baby tooth pulled. The baby tooth is in the way of the big tooth coming in so it will make her teeth straightening out much easier!

Diya's test results...

I got Diya's test results back today. She tested positive for Celiac Disease. She has to go completely wheat/gluten free, and this is a life long disease according to her pediatrician.

I will update with the rest of her results when I have the paper in front of me. For now I can say that she tested + to celiacs, and she tested + allergic to a few foods.

Right now wheat is our biggest challenge.

Keli's Dr. appt.

I had my OB appt today. I lost another 5 lbs since the end of Dec. My BP was 116/78. My dr. came in my room, and we talked about how I am feeling. I told him that I can't keep going on IV hydration 2 days a week. I need it every day! He agreed that would be best, and suggested a more permanent IV (PIC line) so I can administer my own fluids/meds at home. He also wanted to up the amount of fluids, meds, and vitamins I get each day! I was elated! Finally I can avoid those way too frequent ER trips I've been making! I had some blood drawn...electrolytes & uric acid tests. Then I went to "check out"...you know where you make future appts, finalize this appt. That is when I was informed that Pic lines are no longer done because of the rate of infection. It it not protocol. The nurse also told me that she doesn't know if my insurance will even cover me getting IV hydration every day. I stood there and started crying. I'm in such a desperate place right now. I was informed that the nurses/home health care will figure this out by this afternoon. They will call me to let me know what is going on. I am so frustrated. I sure hope they do get this figured out. Thankfully my home health agency are super great & fast at getting back to me! UGH I'm just tired! I'm sick and tired! I feel awful, and I can't keep going like this. UGH UGH UGH!

We listened to the baby's heart tones. He found the heart tones right away...the minute he put the doppler on my tummy. The dr. said that the baby is doing great through all this which is definitely a relief! Glad my body is taking care of the little one! =)

*EDIT*

I spoke with my home health care folks, and they spoke with my Dr. office. Then a nurse from my OB's office called me. Basically here is what was decided...I will be getting an IV line tomorrow. I will get 3 liters of fluids, meds, & vitamins tomorrow & Thursday. Then Friday they will check me to see if I am hydrated enough to get a midline catheter placed. If so then I will get fluids every day for as long as I need them.

The Dr. said this nausea typically goes away at about 17 weeks. He asked if it went away with my previous pregnancies. It did with all except for Diya's pregnancy. I guess time will tell...

Blog Dare #8

Today's blog prompt is

Too much television...

We watch our fair share of TV. My hubby & I enjoy our nightly dose of DVR'd shows. My little kids enjoy Nick Jr. & Sprout. My older kids enjoy Disney and the health channels.

I have little energy today...from being so sick. So today I am laying in bed watching movies. =) Another total lazy day for me!

I have a dr. appt tomorrow. I am hopeful to get some thing taken care of tomorrow so hopefully I can start to feel better soon! I will be 12 weeks pregnant tomorrow! Only 1 more week in the first trimester! We can find out if our little one is a boy or girl in 6 weeks!!!! YAY!

Something you need daily - coffee?

So this is yesterday's blog prompt. I missed yesterday because I was so very ill. I spent the greater part of the evening in the ER getting 4 1/2 liters of IV fluid & 2 medications to help resolve the horrible nausea. Thankfully my electrolytes tested OK. I hadn't kept food or drink down in about 48 hours. I felt awful!

Thankfully after the fluids I felt well enough to eat (something I was MAJORLY craving!) a piece of Papa Romano's pizza & a bread stick. Unfortunately it came back up, but a whole glass of cold Sprite stayed down!!! YAY!

So back to my blog prompt...something I need daily. Recently it is IV fluids. When not pregnant and suffering with HG I need caffeine...preferably in the form of Diet Coke!

My special place...

So today's blog prompt is....My "special" place. {Where do you go for quiet/alone or regrouping time}

Right now with my sickness I have been spending a lot of time in my bedroom. When I am not sick I like to sit on my back porch/deck. I usually sit out on the deck when I am on the phone. It makes having a conversation with someone much easier.
